Heavy Duty Mechanic

The Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on Caterpillar heavy-duty mining equipment, including 740/777/785 haul trucks, 6030/6020 shovels, D9/D6 dozers, and 980/993 wheel loaders. The role involves servicing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of mining equipment. Your key responsibilities will include: - Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty mining equipment, including engines, transmissions, axles, hydraulics, brakes, and air-conditioning systems. - Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults to identify the root cause of equipment malfunctions and carry out appropriate repairs. - Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance, including lubrication, greasing, filter replacement, and component checks, to ensure safe and reliable equipment performance. - Repair and replace defective components and systems, including electrical controls, batteries, alternators, starters, wiring, hydraulic lines, drive shafts, differentials, and computer-controlled systems. - Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders, document repairs and diagnostic hours, and communicate repair recommendations or improvement opportunities to the Foreman.
