As an Assistant Controller at Luana Savings Bank, you will play an important role in the Bank’s financial reporting, accounting, regulatory reporting, and financial analysis functions. Working closely with the CFO, this position will help ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Bank’s financial information while supporting management with reporting, analysis, forecasting, and other financial initiatives.

We are seeking someone with a strong foundation in accounting and financial reporting who can bring experience from a community bank, accounting firm, audit environment, or similar financial setting. Hands-on experience preparing bank Call Reports is required and experience with audited bank financial statements is highly valued.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. This individual should be able to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and collaborate effectively with teammates throughout the Bank. Reports to the CFO.
This position is open to mid-level and experienced candidates. Polk City or Ossian locations only.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and ensure the accuracy of the Bank’s quarterly Call Report and related regulatory reporting.
- Complete regulatory and routine financial reporting requirements, including but not limited to deposit summaries, holding company financials, audited financial statements, CECL, and other required reports.
- Assist with the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly financial statements and account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial information and provide meaningful reporting and insights to support management decision-making.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and other financial planning activities.
- Prepare routine financial and management reports for senior management, the Board of Directors, and related committees.
- Participate in the Bank’s Asset and Liability Management (ALM) processes and committee, including related reporting and analysis.
- Monitor and report on the Bank’s investment portfolio and related financial information.
- Assist with the preparation, coordination, and review of information related to the Bank’s annual audit and audited financial statements.
- Collaborate with teammates and departments throughout the Bank to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen internal controls, and improve financial reporting.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of applicable banking regulations, accounting principles, and reporting requirements.
- Follow all established policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a related field such as Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a comparable field of study.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, audit, or finance, preferably within a community banking or financial institution environment.
- Experience independently preparing bank Call Reports is required.
- Experience with financial statements, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Experience with audited financial statements, preferably within a banking environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and data analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with financial data, reporting, and financial models.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial information.
- Ability to promote Luana Savings Bank and represent the Bank positively within our surrounding communities.

- All teammates work Saturdays on a rotating schedule.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Community bank accounting or financial reporting experience.
- Experience with bank audits and working directly with external auditors.
- Asset and Liability Management (ALM) experience.
- Experience with bank regulatory reporting beyond the Call Report.
- Experience with investment portfolio accounting, monitoring, or reporting.
- Experience with Jack Henry core systems, including SilverLake, Xperience, and Cognos.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- CPA, CFA, or progress toward a relevant professional certification is a plus.
Additional Info
- At-Will, Full-Time position based on 40 hours per week - when scheduled on a Saturday compensating time off is given during the week worked.
- Schedule is 8AM-4:30PM M-F; 8AM-11AM Sat (rotating schedule).
- Travel: Minimal for occasional training.
- Employment is subject to background and credit check.
