Specific eligibility and coverage details will be provided during the hiring process** Job Summary: Piper Fire Protection is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fire Alarm Inspector to join our Sarasota, FL team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing inspections and testing of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72 standards and applicable codes. The ideal candidate will hold a NICET Level I Fire Alarm certification or higher and have a strong commitment to life safety and customer service. In addition to fire alarm inspections, this position offers a unique opportunity for professional growth through cross-training on water-based fire protection systems. The successful candidate will be trained to perform sprinkler system inspections with the goal of obtaining NICET Level I Water-Based Systems certification within their first year of employment. Hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., though start and end times may vary based on customer and project requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Perform inspection, testing, and documentation of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72 and applicable local codes. - Complete all required inspection reports, deficiency documentation, and service paperwork accurately and on time. - Communicate inspection findings, deficiencies, and recommendations to customers and internal team members. - Maintain compliance with company safety procedures and customer site requirements. - Utilize mobile devices and inspection software to document and submit inspection reports. - Assist with basic troubleshooting of fire alarm systems as needed. - Participate in training programs for water-based fire protection system inspections. - Learn and perform basic inspection and testing procedures for sprinkler and other water-based fire protection systems. - Work toward obtaining NICET Level I Water-Based Systems certification within one year of hire. - Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong customer service at all job sites and customer locations. Required Skills & Qualifications - NICET Level I Fire Alarm certification (or higher) required. - Experience inspecting, testing, or servicing fire alarm systems preferred. - Working knowledge of NFPA 72 requirements and fire alarm inspection procedures. - Ability to read and interpret blueprints, system drawings, and inspection reports. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Effective written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently while managing daily schedules and priorities. - Proficiency with smartphones, tablets, and basic computer applications. - Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record. Preferred Qualifications: - Additional NICET certifications or relevant fire protection certifications. - Experience with sprinkler or water-based fire protection systems. - Familiarity with Florida fire codes and inspection requirements. - Desire to expand skills across multiple fire protection disciplines. This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces.
