Position Summary
The primary responsibilities of the Touring Director are to drive touring revenue through owned, co-promoted, and strategic touring opportunities while leading the development and execution of CMN's touring strategy. This role is responsible for identifying and securing content, evaluating market opportunities, and determining where, when, and how the company strategically assumes risk to maximize revenue and profitability. The Touring Director builds and maintains long-term relationships with artists, agents, promoters, venues, and industry partners to expand touring opportunities and strengthen CMN's market position. This role exercises substantial independent judgment and discretion in evaluating investments, negotiating touring opportunities, developing market strategies, and allocating resources to achieve business objectives. Additionally, the Touring Director ensures a seamless transition of confirmed tours and shows to Touring Managers for execution and delivery.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Drive touring revenue through owned, co-promoted, and strategic touring opportunities.
- Lead the development and execution of touring strategies that support company growth and profitability objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and secure touring content, artist partnerships, and market opportunities.
- Assess financial, operational, and market risks associated with touring opportunities and recommend investment strategies.
- Determine where, when, and how the company assumes risk on touring, co-promotion, and event opportunities.
- Develop and execute market expansion strategies to increase touring revenue and strengthen CMN's presence in key markets.
- Negotiate tour agreements, co-promotion deals, artist agreements, venue agreements, and other business arrangements.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with artists, agents, managers, promoters, venues, and industry stakeholders.
- Evaluate market trends, consumer demand, competitive activity, and industry developments to inform business decisions.
- Analyze tour performance, profitability, and revenue opportunities and make recommendations to maximize returns.
- Collaborate with Booking Agents, Artist Management, Marketing, Finance, Production, and Operations teams to ensure alignment on touring initiatives.
- Develop tour budgets, revenue forecasts, and financial models to support business planning and decision-making.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, showcases, meetings, and networking events.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and revenue streams within the touring and live entertainment sectors.
- Present strategic recommendations, business cases, and performance analyses to senior leadership.
- Transition confirmed tours and shows to Touring Managers and Operations teams for execution and delivery.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Entertainment Management, Music Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in touring, concert promotion, live entertainment, talent buying, event production, artist management, or related industry roles.
- Proven track record of generating revenue and managing profitable touring, promotion, or live entertainment initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating business opportunities, financial risk, and market expansion strategies.
- Experience negotiating artist agreements, tour agreements, co-promotion deals, venue agreements, and related contracts.
- Strong understanding of the live entertainment, touring, concert promotion, and venue industries.
- Established network of industry contacts, including artists, agents, managers, promoters, venues, and business partners.
- Demonstrated success developing strategic partnerships and long-term business relationships.
- Strong financial acumen with experience developing budgets, forecasts, profitability analyses, and business plans.
- Exceptional negotiation, business development, and relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to evaluate risk and make informed business decisions that impact revenue, profitability, and company growth.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms, and financial reporting tools.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and lead cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of current industry trends, touring economics, market conditions, and emerging opportunities.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) is required.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in evaluating touring opportunities, negotiating business agreements, managing financial risk, and making strategic decisions that impact company performance.
Payscale: $90k-$110K
Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
