Assistant Project Manager

Mekanika is a leading operator in the Building and Engineering Services Industry, specialising in mechanical and electrical contracting, HVAC solutions, lifts and escalators, industrial products and facilities management. We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an Assistant Project Manager. Reporting to the Project Manager, the selected candidate will form part of the M&E Projects team and will support the successful execution of assigned projects, ensuring works are completed efficiently, within budget and to the required quality and safety standards. Responsibilities: - Monitor project progress, costs and resources, ensuring that material and labour budgets are maintained and any variances are addressed promptly; - Supervise site teams and work carried out by subcontractors, ensuring that time, quality and safety standards are met; - Monitor work methods, materials and equipment to minimise wastage and ensure efficient utilisation; - Assist in reviewing contract, tender and construction documentation, including drawings, purchase orders and variation orders; - Monitor procurement of materials and equipment and follow up on potential delays; - Ensure construction drawings are accurately marked up to reflect the As-Built condition; - Support the training, development and performance management of site personnel; - Take ownership of quality-related matters, including method statements, testing and certification of installations; - Coordinate and support the commissioning of systems and installations; - Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and Company procedures. The individual must: - Have at least 5 years’ experience in the M&E Industry, specifically in Industrial and Commercial Electrical and Mechanical installations; - Experienced in leading a team of tradesmen and the execution of industrial electrical and mechanical installations on projects; - Capable of working in teamwork with other officers and engineers, liaising with subcontractors and Clients as required; - Be well organised, have good managerial skills on site and proficient in maintaining a good filing system - Capable of working on own initiative and in a dynamic and fast-paced environment - Have a good knowledge of Autocad and must be able to read Drawings and Electrical Schematics; - Be capable of using MS Word/Excel/Projects and the MS Office package; - Be a problem solver and have a good eye for detail; - Have good (both written and verbal) communication skills in Maltese and English; - Have a strong commitment to quality, customer satisfaction and workplace safety.This post offers the opportunity to benefit from an attractive remuneration package and a work environment that is dynamic and challenging.
