About the Role
The Birthplace of Country Music (BCM) is seeking an experienced, creative, and collaborative Director of Marketing & Communications to lead marketing, communications, public relations, advertising, and brand strategy across the organization.
BCM is the parent organization of the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion music festival, and Radio Bristol. Together, these programs celebrate the history, impact, and continuing legacy of the 1927 Bristol Sessions while connecting audiences with the music and culture of our region today.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can think strategically, manage people and projects, and turn ideas into effective campaigns. The Director of Marketing & Communications works across BCM to grow audiences, strengthen the organization's brands, support revenue-generating activities, and tell BCM's story locally, regionally, nationally, and beyond.
What You'll Do
The Director of Marketing & Communications will:
- Lead, supervise, and support BCM's marketing and communications team, fostering a collaborative, creative, and accountable work environment.
- Develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans and strategies across the Museum, Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, Radio Bristol, and organization-wide initiatives.
- Plan and oversee integrated campaigns across digital advertising, email, social media, websites, print, public relations, and other channels.
- Manage the marketing budget and allocate resources across campaigns, advertising, vendors, and other initiatives with attention to effectiveness and return on investment.
- Ensure consistent and compelling brand positioning and messaging across BCM's programs and platforms.
- Direct public relations efforts, including cultivating media relationships and developing and distributing press releases and other media materials.
- Oversee advertising strategy, placement, negotiation, creative development, and results assessment.
- Manage outside agencies, contractors, photographers, videographers, designers, and other marketing partners as needed.
- Collaborate with BCM departments to understand priorities, coordinate campaigns, and ensure marketing efforts support broader organizational goals.
- Oversee BCM's websites and digital presence to ensure content remains current, engaging, professional, and effective.
- Guide BCM's social media strategy and ensure channels are active, accurate, engaging, and aligned with organizational goals.
- Coordinate email marketing and direct-mail campaigns, including audience development, content, production, and performance analysis.
- Support the development of sponsorship materials, membership campaigns, media kits, contributor recognition materials, presentations, and other organizational communications.
- Monitor marketing performance and use analytics, market research, audience insights, and emerging trends to continually improve strategy.
- Maintain clear priorities, schedules, and workflows across multiple simultaneous projects and organizational needs.
- Perform other duties that support BCM's mission and organizational priorities.
