POSITION SUMMARY The Giftshop Sales Agent provides professional guest service while promoting and selling merchandise in the Giftshop. The position is responsible for assisting guests with product selection, processing electronic transactions, maintaining merchandise standards, supporting inventory control, and contributing to departmental sales objectives. The successful candidate must be customer-focused, sales-oriented, organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced resort environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Guest Service & Sales - Welcome guests and provide courteous, personalized service. - Assist guests with product selection and provide accurate information on merchandise, pricing, promotions, and availability. - Promote Giftshop merchandise, resort-branded products, souvenirs, and special offers. - Apply appropriate upselling and cross-selling techniques to maximize sales opportunities. - Address guest inquiries and concerns professionally, referring unresolved matters to the supervisor. POS & Transaction Processing - Process purchases accurately using the resort's cashless and POS system. - Process card and other approved electronic payments in accordance with established procedures. - Provide receipts or transaction confirmations to guests. - Process authorized returns, exchanges, and adjustments. - Report transaction discrepancies, system issues, or payment-related concerns to the team leader. Merchandise & Inventory - Receive, check, price, tag, and stock merchandise. - Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate stock records. - Monitor stock levels and report shortages, damaged merchandise, and replenishment requirements. - Verify deliveries against supporting documentation. - Ensure merchandise is stored and handled appropriately. Giftshop Presentation - Maintain clean, attractive, and organized displays. - Replenish merchandise and maintain appropriate product presentation throughout the shift. - Assist with promotional and seasonal displays. - Ensure prices and promotional information are correctly displayed. Departmental Operations - Assist with opening and closing procedures. - Maintain required sales and operational records. - Attend departmental meetings, training sessions, and briefings. - Report maintenance, security, equipment, or other operational concerns. - Protect guest and company information and maintain confidentiality. - Perform other duties reasonably assigned by management.   REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE - High school diploma or equivalent qualification. - Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, hospitality, or a related field. - Hotel or resort experience would be an asset. - Previous experience with POS systems and electronic payment processing preferred. - Basic computer literacy. - Good verbal and written communication skills. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES - Customer service and interpersonal skills. - Sales and upselling ability. - POS and electronic payment processing. - Basic computer proficiency. - Inventory and merchandising awareness. - Strong organizational and time-management skills. - Attention to detail and accuracy. - Problem-solving ability. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment. Additional Asset: Fluency or working knowledge of Spanish, French, or German. WORKING CONDITIONS - Flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays, may be required. - Position involves prolonged periods of standing and frequent guest interaction. - May require lifting and moving merchandise within safe working limits. - Work is performed in a fast-paced resort retail environment. - Schedules may vary according to resort occupancy and operational requirements.  KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS Performance will be assessed based on: - Achievement of assigned sales targets. - Guest satisfaction and service quality. - Accuracy of transactions. - Inventory accuracy and stock control. - Product knowledge and sales effectiveness. - Giftshop presentation and merchandising standards. - Compliance with resort and departmental procedures. - Professional conduct, attendance, and punctuality. - Teamwork and communication.  AUTHORITY & ACCOUNTABILITY The Giftshop Sales Agent is accountable for: - Accurate processing of guest purchases and electronic payments. - Proper use of the POS system and protection of transaction information. - Accurate handling and recording of merchandise and inventory. - Maintaining established Giftshop presentation and service standards. - Promptly reporting discrepancies, shortages, damaged merchandise, and operational concerns. - Following Couples Resorts policies, procedures, and service standards.
