Voyager Technologies is seeking a Director of Global Trade Compliance to lead the company's international trade compliance strategy and operations. This role oversees compliance with export controls, import regulations, sanctions, customs requirements, and other cross-border trade laws, ensuring Voyager can operate confidently and efficiently as it grows its global footprint. The Director of Global Trade Compliance will serve as the Export Control Officer and empowered official for the company and will be responsible for overseeing and executing all matters related to trade compliance.
The position reports to the Chief Legal Officer and is part of the Legal department. This is a remote position.
In this role, the essential functions are:
- Own and evolve the company's global trade compliance program, including export controls (ITAR/EAR), import/customs compliance, sanctions (OFAC), and anti-boycott regulations
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance across all jurisdictions where Voyager operates or sells
- Oversee product/technology classification (ECCN, USML, HTS) and manage the licensing process for exports, re-exports, and transfers
- Manage import compliance activities, including customs valuation, country-of-origin determinations, tariff classification, and duty management
- Lead screening processes for denied/restricted parties, sanctioned countries, and embargoed entities across sales, procurement, and partnerships
- Conduct risk assessments and internal audits of trade compliance controls; drive remediation of identified gaps
- Lead responses to compliance incidents, including voluntary self-disclosures and government inquiries
- Advise leadership and cross-functional teams (engineering, sales, supply chain, M&A) on trade compliance risks tied to new products, markets, partnerships, and international hires
- Build, mentor, and manage a growing trade compliance team as the function scales

- Required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of experience in global trade compliance, export controls, or customs, ideally in aerospace, defense, or advanced technology
- Strong operational knowledge of ITAR, EAR, OFAC sanctions programs, and U.S. customs/import regulations
- Direct experience interfacing with BIS, DDTC, CBP, or OFAC
- Strong cross-functional communication skills and comfort advising senior executives
Preferred:
- Experience in the space, satellite, or defense sectors
- Certification such as Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO) or Certified Customs Specialist
- Experience with global expansion, M&A due diligence, or multinational supply chains
The good faith base salary range for this role is $200,000 - $230,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
