Riptide Technology is seeking a Senior Database Engineer (DBE) to support Research and Development (R&D) work at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington DC.   The Senior DBE will design and build PostgreSQL databases that are capable of ingesting and storing high volumes of event data while maintaining optimal search performance.  PostgreSQL database instances reside in both on-premise and cloud environments.    The Senior DBE will be part of a high-performing, multi-disciplinary development team and collaborate on all facets of the broader system’s design and implementation.   This design and development work will include: design, planning, technology selection, architecture, schema design, data modeling, high volume load processes, performance tuning and data access APIs.  The Sr DBE should be skilled in PostgreSQL database administration tasks, but this position requires an experienced database design engineer, not a database administrator.
