Tamara Private Hospital is seeking Junior Medical Officers to join our team on a casual basis.
About the Role
The Junior Medical Officer (JMO) provides frontline medical care to inpatients across the hospital, working collaboratively with Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs), nursing staff and allied health teams. The JMO supports the delivery of safe, timely and coordinated patient care throughout the admission, under the direction and supervision of VMOs and senior medical staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments, examinations and investigations, and initiate treatment within the scope of your role and as directed by VMOs or senior medical staff.
- Provide ongoing care to inpatients, including reviewing patients and escalating any concerns or clinical deterioration promptly.
- Respond to medical emergencies and cardiac arrest calls across the hospital, working as part of the multidisciplinary response team.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including results review, medication charts, progress notes and discharge summaries.
- Communicate effectively with VMOs, nursing staff and allied health teams to support safe and coordinated patient management.
- Participate in clinical handover and safety huddles to maintain continuity of care and situational awareness.
- Provide after-hours medical cover as required and ensure appropriate handover and completion of outstanding clinical tasks before the end of your shift.About You
- Current AHPRA registration
- Appropriate level of postgraduate medical experience for a Junior Medical Officer position
- Demonstrated commitment to providing safe, patient-centred care
- Good clinical assessment and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to recognise and appropriately escalate clinical deterioration
