About the role

Project ManagementLeadershipCommunication
Company Overview: Beam Therapeutics is a biotechnology company committed to establishing the leading, fully integrated platform for precision genetic medicines. To achieve this vision, Beam has assembled a platform with integrated gene editing, delivery and internal manufacturing capabilities. Beam’s suite of gene editing technologies is anchored by base editing, a proprietary technology that is designed to enable precise, predictable and efficient single base changes, at targeted genomic sequences, without making double-stranded breaks in the DNA. This has the potential to enable a wide range of therapeutic editing strategies that Beam is using to advance a diversified portfolio of base editing programs. Beam is a values-driven organization committed to its people, cutting-edge science, and a vision of providing life-long cures to patients suffering from serious diseases. Position Overview: Beam is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Human Resources Co-Op to join our team from January through June 2027. The Human Resources Co-op will support key HR initiatives and projects focused on strengthening HR operations, processes, and compliance. This role will provide hands-on experience reviewing HR processes and documentation, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting efforts to strengthen consistency and compliance across HR practices. The co-op will collaborate with HR and cross-functional stakeholders while building practical experience in HR operations, project management, and process improvement. Responsibilities: - Review HR processes and personnel files to assess alignment with applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies, and established HR practices. - Audit personnel files for completeness, consistency, appropriate document segregation, and adherence to confidentiality and recordkeeping requirements; document findings and recommend corrective actions. - Research applicable HR record-retention requirements and develop a documented retention schedule for personnel and other HR records, in partnership with HR and Legal as appropriate. - Review key HR processes—including onboarding, offboarding, employee communications, and document-management workflows—to confirm that procedures and related controls are current, consistently applied, and adequately documented. - Recommend improvements to address identified compliance gaps and strengthen the clarity, efficiency, consistency, and scalability of HR processes. - Organize approved HR records and process documentation within a consistent, centralized structure that supports appropriate access, confidentiality, and ongoing maintenance. - Exhibit Beam Leadership Behaviors; work collaboratively across functions and locations. - Handle confidential information and HR documents responsibly while maintaining strong attention to detail. - Support on-site culture and team events as needed. Qualifications - Currently pursuing a BS or MS degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field. - Knowledge of HR compliance practices and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately. - Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to understand workflows and translate them into clear, structured documentation. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Comfortable seeking input, collaborating with multiple stakeholders, and helping to keep projects on track and meet timelines. - This role follows a hybrid work schedule and requires onsite attendance 4-5 days per week. - Applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree-granting college or university program and maintain their student status throughout the duration of the co-op to be eligible. Hourly pay will will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. Co-op Hourly Pay Range $23—$34 USD
