Communication
An enterprise client is seeking Academic Facilitators in Nigeria to provide academic and discipline-specific support to university students. Facilitators will complement existing faculty, advising, and student mentor resources by helping students navigate program-specific academic questions, access existing resources, and receive professional mentoring related to their field of study.
For this project, the selected candidate will:
- Provide academic support to students within an assigned degree discipline.
- Answer program- and major-specific questions and help students navigate available academic resources.
- Become familiar with the curriculum for the assigned program to effectively respond to student questions.
- Provide professional and discipline-related mentoring to students.
- Supplement existing student resources while supporting the established learning and teaching model.
- Receive and apply curriculum-related information and guidance from academic departments.
- Maintain scheduled availability for students both in person and online.
- Provide approximately 70% of student support synchronously and 30% asynchronously.
- Coordinate with program stakeholders regarding student questions, curriculum information, and academic support needs.
Ideal candidates will have:
- An earned doctorate degree in a discipline relevant to at least one of the following degree areas:
- Applied Business Management
- Applied Health
- Professional Studies
- Software Development
- Communication
- Information Technology
- Family and Human Services
- Professional and/or academic experience related to one or more of the degree areas above.
- Experience supporting, mentoring, teaching, or advising university-level students.
- Ability to quickly become familiar with program curriculum and provide accurate, helpful academic guidance.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to support students in both in-person and online environments.
- Comfort working independently while collaborating with academic and student-support teams.
- Ability to work effectively online using a laptop computer and cell phone.
This engagement is expected to require approximately 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
• Approximately half of the weekly commitment will consist of scheduled, in-person availability in Lagos, Nigeria.
• Remaining hours may be completed remotely or at the facility based on project and student-support needs.
• Candidates must be located in, or able to reliably work on-site in, Lagos, Nigeria for the required portion of the engagement.
