About the role

Excel
Location: Dallas, on-site at our warehouse Compensation: $75,000 to $105,000 base, plus equity Department: Revenue Reports to: Head of Merchandising & Revenue About Rare Candy Rare Candy is revolutionizing the $25 billion trading-card industry as the only community marketplace 100% dedicated to TCGs. Collectors use our AI-powered card scanner, data-rich collection tools, and expert-curated Instapacks to buy, sell, rip, and showcase Pokémon, MTG, Lorcana, One Piece, and more. We've hit 30x revenue growth year to date, the business is profitable, and we're building the team to take this from a great product to a category-defining platform. We're a 25-person team moving fast and looking for the next set of TCG-obsessed rock stars to join our team. THE ROLE You'll build the Instapacks that thousands of collectors rip every week. You'll turn our vault inventory into packs people love: picking chases collectors will love, creating themes and curating cards, setting run sizes, checking every pack's value and margin, and getting each print run live on time. Then you'll tell collectors about it, with drop announcements, pull highlights, and the stories behind the chases. This role is for someone who lives in the hobby and is fluent in numbers. You can price a slab from memory, and you can build the spreadsheet that shows what a 5,000-pack run does to margin. You'll work side by side with our pack builder and warehouse team in Dallas. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE First 30 days: You know our inventory, our tools, and every live pack. You've shipped your first print runs with review, and you're posting drop and pull content every week. First few months: You own the weekly build calendar. Packs launch on time, hit their value and margin targets, and sell through. You catch inventory problems before they reach a live pack. By the end of year one: You run pack building and drop marketing day to day. You've improved our pack templates and tools, and you're training the next pack builder. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build print runs from live inventory: choose chases, set run sizes and pack structure, and check every pack against our value, floor, and margin rules before launch. - Keep the lineup fresh: a steady mix across price points and games, with Pokémon today and One Piece growing. - Watch the numbers daily: sell-through, pulls, and Keep versus Exchange. Flag what's working, what's stuck, and what we need to buy. - Work with the warehouse: intake, inventory accuracy, and on-time launches. - Tell the story: write and post drop announcements, weekly top-pull highlights, and pack stories with our content team. - Feed the buy plan: tell sourcing which cards and price points we're short on. YOU MIGHT BE A FIT IF - You're a serious collector or player. You follow sets, prices, and grading, and you can spot a fake. - You're good with numbers: comfortable in spreadsheets, expected value, and basic probability. Experience using AI tools like Claude is a plus. - You are immersed in the TCG hobby. You know what cards are trending, when new sets drop what the top chases will be. You’ve bought, sold, traded and graded cards for a long time and it shows. - You've bought, sold, or priced cards for real: at a card shop, as a show dealer or Whatnot seller, at an auction house, grading company, distributor, or marketplace. - You write in a collector's voice. Comfort on camera or running social is a plus. - You check your work. Packs go live with real money on them, and accuracy matters every time. - You're based in Dallas or ready to move here. WHY JOIN US NOW - Shape the packs our collectors rip every week. - Learn merchandising from the inside of a profitable, fast-growing company, with a path to owning pack strategy. - Competitive startup comp and equity upside. - Full benefits: health, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), and a wellness stipend. - A monthly dogfooding budget to spend on cards, because we hire people who love this hobby. HOW WE HIRE AND HOW TO APPLY Apply through our Ashby posting and answer these: 1. Required: what do you collect or play, and what's the favorite card you own? 2. You have $10,000 of cards to build a $25 Instapack. How would you pick the hits and decide whether it's a good pack? Back-of-the-envelope is fine. 3. Share something that shows your hobby knowledge: a video, post, spreadsheet, price analysis, or a store or Whatnot channel you've run. 4. Rip a few Instapacks. Which pack would you change, and how? Rare Candy is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate individuality, from Pikachu collectors to Planeswalker pros, and are committed to building an inclusive team.
