We are seeking a highly experienced, strategic, and hands-on Salesforce Development Manager & Systems Architect based in the United States to lead our US-aligned development pod, drive overarching technical architecture, and partner across the business to drive business outcomes.
You will lead, mentor, and manage a small US-aligned pod of administrators and quality engineers while collaborating daily with our India-based development team and leadership. Beyond people management, you will serve as a trusted technical consultant and advisor to business stakeholders, product managers, and business systems leadership—advising on how to solve complex operational challenges by architecting a scalable, streamlined, performant, and easily maintainable Salesforce landscape.
Location: Preference for Utah-based
Reports to: Senior Director of Business Systems
WHAT YOU WILL OWN:
People Leadership & Global Collaboration
- Global Co-Leadership: Partner closely with the Salesforce Development Manager in India to align development practices, unify team culture, ensure smooth handoffs across time zones, and maintain cohesive SDLC standards.
- US Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing, US-based pod of Salesforce administrators and quality engineers, overseeing goal setting, career development, sprint allocations, and performance evaluations.
- Team Elevation: Serve as the primary US technical escalation point, unblocking developers on complex debugging, architectural decisions, and integration hurdles.
- Agile Governance: Facilitate and participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog grooming, technical sizing, retrospectives) in coordination with global business systems teams.
System Architecture & Strategic Advisory
- Enterprise Architecture Ownership: Collaboratively manage and guide the end-to-end technical architecture across our core Business Systems landscape (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, CPQ, Billing & Support & Finance Systems), ensuring enterprise-grade scalability, security, and low technical debt.
- Consulting & Stakeholder Advisory: Act as an internal technical consultant to Product Managers, Revenue Operations, Finance, Support, Strategy and executive stakeholders—translating ambiguous, high-level business goals into scalable, streamlined system designs.
- Pragmatic Solutioning: Push back constructively on anti-patterns or inefficient customization requests, proposing elegant, sustainable platform solutions that balance immediate business ROI with long-term platform health.
Quote-to-Cash, Integrations & Platform Health
- Quote-to-Cash & Financial Alignment: Provide architectural oversight across the Salesforce CPQ and Billing lifecycle (product catalogues, pricing rules, billing schedules, and revenue recognition), ensuring audit-ready data flows into downstream ERP/general ledger systems (e.g., Sage Intacct).
- Enterprise Integration Strategy: Architect decoupled, reliable integration patterns between Salesforce and external applications using middleware (MuleSoft), REST/SOAP APIs, event-driven architectures (Platform Events, Pub/Sub API), and contract lifecycle tools (DocuSign/Conga).
- DevOps, Release & Code Standards: Oversee code quality standards, code reviews, environment strategies, and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring reliable deployments and strict adherence to governor limits and security guardrails.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO ACCOMPLISH THE JOB:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of progressive, hands-on Salesforce development and architecture experience within enterprise SaaS or high-growth environments.
- 2+ years of direct people management or formal technical team leadership experience (managing developers and/or administrators).
- Proven track record architecting complex multi-cloud Salesforce environments and advising cross-functional business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with globally distributed teams (specifically US–India cross-regional collaboration).
Technical Competency Requirements
- Mastery in Programmatic & Declarative Development: Deep expertise in Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), SOQL/SOSL, asynchronous processing, and advanced Flow automation, with an instinct for when to build custom vs. leverage native platform capabilities.
- Architecture & Solution Design: Strong experience architecting solutions across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, and Revenue Cloud / CPQ & Billing ecosystems.
- Integration & Middleware: Strong background designing REST/SOAP APIs, event-driven integrations (Platform Events), middleware configurations (MuleSoft), and third-party SaaS connectors (ERP, Data Warehouse, CLM).
- CI/CD & DevOps: Hands-on experience with source-driven development (Git), branching strategies, and automated deployment tools.
- Security & Performance: Comprehensive understanding of Salesforce security models, role hierarchies, profile/permission set architectures, governor limits, and LDV optimization.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Salesforce Certified Application Architect and/or System Architect
- Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or CTA track candidate
- Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I & II
WHAT WILL MAKE US LOVE YOU
- An Architectural Visionary & Pragmatist: You build solutions that stand the test of time, resisting shortcut technical debt while keeping business agility front and centre.
- A People-First Leader: You take genuine pride in mentoring team members, creating psychological safety, and fostering high accountability and continuous technical growth.
- An Exceptional Communicator & Diplomat: You effortlessly translate complex technical trade-offs into plain language for executive and non-technical stakeholders, building trust and consensus across departments.
- Global Bridge-Builder: You appreciate the dynamics of distributed development and thrive in keeping US and offshore teams unified in goals, velocity, and culture.
- Comfort in Ambiguity: You can take high-level, unstructured business requests, define the architectural blueprint from scratch, and guide your team through execution.
