About One Acre Fund Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. On average, this model enables any farmer to increase their income and assets on supported land by more than 35 percent, while permanently improving their resilience. This is all made possible by our team of 9,000+ full-time staff, drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. To learn more, please see our Why Work Here blog post. Our Uganda program, founded in 2014, provides more than 34,000 farmers with quality farm supplies as well as fruit trees like avocados. Our team in Uganda is headquartered in Jinja, close to the districts we serve, and supported by a small presence in Kampala. One Acre Fund works in the eastern region of Uganda, primarily in the districts of Iganga, Jinja, Kamuli, and Buikwe. About the Role As our Agroforestry Lead, you will coordinate the annual tree production cycle in Uganda, from planning and nursery production through to seedling distribution. You will be the single source of truth on tree production performance, keeping stakeholders aligned so that quality seedlings reach farmers on time and at scale. This role has no direct reports. You will succeed by influencing and coordinating colleagues across Field Operations, Supply Chain, Data, and Product Innovations, and by escalating risks early to the right people. If you enjoy owning a complex end-to-end process, working with data, and contributing to impact for farmers, this role offers real ownership and room to innovate. Responsibilities Planning and coordination: - Own the master tree production calendar and milestones, and coordinate activities from production planning to seedling distribution and excess tree management Stakeholder management: - Align Product Innovations, Supply Chain, Data, Regional Leads, and Tree Nursery Managers, and escalate risks, delays, and quality issues to leadership. Nursery production: - Work with Regional Leads and Product Innovations to ensure timely nursery setup, weekly supervision, follow-up on interventions, and corrective action to stay on track for targets. Data and reporting: - Work with the Data & Analytics Lead on dashboards and weekly nursery analyses, and turn the findings into clear updates and action plans. Quality assurance: - Coordinate seed quality control at delivery, receipt, and storage, monitor seedling quality, and support pre-distribution audits Logistics and distribution: - Design and lead seedling distribution plans, pack projections, transfers between sites, and route planning, improving efficiency as complexity grows. Continuous improvement: - Coordinate field trials, support the scaling of new tree species, and document lessons learned. Career Growth and Development We have a strong culture of constant learning and we invest in developing our people. You’ll have weekly check-ins with your manager, access to mentorship and training programs, and regular feedback on your performance. We hold career reviews every six months, and set aside time to discuss your aspirations and career goals. You’ll have the opportunity to shape a growing organization and build a rewarding long-term career. Qualifications Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have: - Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry, Agroforestry, Natural Resource Management, Economics, Agricultural Economics, or Statistics (or equivalent experience) - 3 to 5 years of experience in agroforestry or tree production work (tree nursery establishment, seedling production, quality control, and agroforestry systems) - Field programme implementation, with supply chain and logistics coordination - Strong stakeholder management and communication, including influencing without authority - Problem-solving and comfort with ambiguity in a fast-scaling organisation - Data analysis and dashboard use, with the ability to turn data into action - You are willing to travel regularly to nursery sites Preferred Start Date As soon as possible Job Location Jinja, Uganda Benefits Health insurance, housing, and comprehensive benefits Contract Duration 2 years Eligibility This role is only open to citizens or permanent residents of Uganda.
