About the role

RustSupply ChainGCPLinuxProduct ManagementCAD
About Us We’re building a secure, reproducible foundation for software everywhere, one that makes building, maintaining, and releasing software predictable and effortless for everyone. Our platform gives teams private artifact registries and policy enforcement, so they can trust what goes into their software supply chain. Our open source tooling is already in developers’ hands, and we’re working closely with design partners on what comes next. We’re a small, remote team, growing deliberately. We build our product in Rust for the guarantees it gives us: memory safety and a strict type system by default, and formal verification where security matters most. We define the quality metrics, the compiler and proofs provide the evidence. Our infrastructure runs on GCP and Cloudflare. There is never a perfect tool for every job; expect the languages and platforms you work with here to grow as we build. If you’re energized by learning new skills, working across boundaries, owning problems end-to-end, and helping shape how a team builds software in the agentic era, keep reading. The role You won’t just write code. You’ll own outcomes end to end: take an epic from proposal to the customer, prototype ideas and show their value, and help shape the architecture they fit into. You’ll work directly with leadership, ship features that customers use immediately, and have a real voice in technical and product decisions. Much of your leverage will come from directing agents well: breaking problems down, setting technical direction, and holding the quality bar on everything that gets merged. While this is a technical role on a team with deep technical expertise, we expect great engineers to show the same qualities as great leaders. Those who bring passion, curiosity, helpfulness and humility are best equipped to succeed. What you'll do - Build and maintain features across our CLI, backend, and frontend, with AI coding agents as a core part of your workflow - Take ownership of projects from idea through deployment and beyond - Make architecture and design decisions that keep a fast-moving, increasingly generated codebase coherent, maintainable, and secure - Review, test, and take full responsibility for the code you ship, whether you wrote it or an agent did - Collaborate closely with teammates including product management, sharing context, asking questions, and giving thoughtful feedback - Operationalise quality. If you know what good looks like, build a deterministic check for it and run it on everything we produce, rather than hand-tweaking each change. - Use Minimal to build Minimal. Find the rough edges in your daily work and fix them - Tell people before a change lands, not after, and write a proposal when your work affects other systems or teammates - Take your turn running the weekly release - Contribute to a culture where people feel supported, heard, and excited about the work What we're looking for - A genuine enthusiasm for AI-accelerated development. You already build with coding agents day to day, and you’re excited (not just comfortable) working with generated code at scale - Sharp judgment about code you didn’t type yourself. You can read, trace and judge code even when it’s obscure, catch subtle correctness and security issues, and know when to throw agent output away and redirect - You interrogate a spec: spot early when it’s incomplete, and ask the questions that simplify it, not just clarify it - Experience managing code at scale with strong habits around testing, CI, code review, and keeping architecture clean as the volume and pace of change increase - Strong programming fundamentals and professional systems-level experience, ideally in Rust. You can think in systems and trade-offs, not just syntax - Comfort with ambiguity, and able to take loosely defined problems and figure out what needs to happen - Solid experience with cloud infrastructure, best practices, and design patterns - Interest in software supply chain security - Solid operating system fundamentals including experience with Linux namespaces, virtualization (KVM/HVF), and networking - You take the quality of what we ship personally, and say so when it isn’t right - You ask why things work the way they do, pick up unfamiliar platforms and languages quickly, and bring back what you find - You notice when someone is stuck and offer before they ask - You’re comfortable not knowing the answer, and you figure it out with the team Nice to have - Experience at an early-stage startup - Background in security, developer tooling, open source and package management - Experience building the tooling, workflows, or evals that make AI agents more effective for a whole team - Contributions to OSS ecosystems How we interview Bring the AI tools you actually work with. Our technical interviews are designed for you to use coding agents the way you would on the job, and we’ll be paying attention to how you direct them, how you evaluate what they produce, and the decisions you make along the way, not whether you can write code from memory. What we offer - Competitive base compensation - Equity stake in the company - Health, dental, vision and life insurance plans - Retirement plans with employer matching - Remote-first work environment - Up to 5 weeks of PTO - Opportunities to travel and work with your team in person Pay range See our approximate salary range below that represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. Actual salaries will vary and are based on a multitude of non-discriminatory factors including final role leveling decisions, a candidate’s relevant work experiences/skills, and geographic location. Salary is one component of our total compensation package. $170,000 - $220,000 CAD Candidate location We are open to candidates who are authorized to work in Canada or the USA for this role. We do not offer Visa Sponsorship. Equal opportunity Minimal is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
