We stay collaborative and focused, always searching for smarter paths forward. If you want to make an impact and grow with a team that inspires millions, you’ll fit right in.
The role:
The Chief of Staff to the CTO is a high-impact, strategic role for the entire technology organization. This is not an administrative role; you are a member of the technology leadership team responsible for driving strategic initiatives, ensuring operational excellence, and facilitating effective communication and execution across all engineering and product development functions. You will operate as a member of the CTO staff team, enabling them to focus on the most critical technological and strategic challenges facing the company.
What you'll do:
Strategic planning and execution
- Strategic alignment: Partner with the CTO to define, articulate, and execute the company's technology vision and strategy. Translate high-level strategy into actionable, cross-functional plans and initiatives.
- Goal management: Drive the technology organization's goal-setting process (e.g., OKRs, KPIs), ensuring alignment with overall company objectives. Track progress against goals and lead reporting efforts for the executive team and board.
- Initiative leadership: Lead special projects and high-priority strategic initiatives on behalf of the CTO, from initial scoping and analysis through to execution and delivery.
Operational Excellence
- Rhythm of the business: Establish and manage the operating cadence for the technology leadership team. This includes planning and facilitating leadership offsites, weekly staff meetings, all-hands meetings, and business reviews. You will own the agendas, ensure pre-work is complete, and drive follow-up on action items.
- Financial and headcount management: Oversee the technology department's annual budget, headcount planning, and resource allocation in partnership with Finance and HR. Provide analysis and recommendations to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Process optimization: Identify and address bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and communication gaps within the technology organization. Implement scalable processes and systems to improve velocity, quality, and collaboration.
Communication and stakeholder management
- Content creation: Prepare high-quality communications and presentations for various audiences, including the executive team, board of directors, all-hands meetings, and external-facing events. Synthesize complex technical and business information into clear, concise narratives.
- Cross-functional liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with key leaders across the organization (e.g., Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance) to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment on strategic priorities.
What you bring in:
- Experience: A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in a technology-focused environment, with a proven track record in roles such as management consulting, strategic planning, business operations, or technical program management.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Business acumen: Strong understanding of business fundamentals, including budget management, financial analysis, and strategic planning. You must be able to connect technology initiatives directly to business outcomes.
- Technical fluency: While not a hands-on coding role, you must be conversant in modern software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps), cloud infrastructure, and the key components of a modern technology stack.
It would be great if you also have:
- Previous experience as a Chief of Staff, a similar strategic operations role, or an MBA or other advanced degree is a significant plus.
- Exceptional communicator: Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills. You can command a room of executives as effectively as you can communicate with a team of engineers.
- Strategic thinker: Ability to see the bigger picture and connect the dots between disparate initiatives, while also being able to dive into the details.
- High emotional intelligence: Natural ability to build trust and influence stakeholders at all levels without direct authority. You are empathetic, discreet, and possess sound judgment.
- Problem solver: You are an analytical, data-driven individual who can structure and solve ambiguous, complex problems with minimal guidance.
- Unflappable and adaptable: You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and can gracefully manage competing priorities and shifting deadlines. You maintain a positive, can-do attitude under pressure.
What we offer:
We support growth through learning resources, leadership programs, mentoring, and real hands-on work. People can move between teams and projects to build new skills and keep things interesting. We offer clear internal mobility and a transparent path for progression, with leaders who stay involved and provide guidance throughout the year. In addition, you will benefit from:
- A comprehensive compensation package: We offer a competitive salary, 30 days of paid vacation, private health insurance, parental leave top-up, pension, and wellness contributions.
- Modern tools to do your best work: Choose your preferred computer and phone within our budget, so you can work comfortably and efficiently.
- A people-focused office culture: We value in-person collaboration and follow an office-first model, with some flexibility. Our offices offer a vibrant environment with opportunities to learn, connect, and recharge, from breakfast, lunch, and well-stocked snack stations and quiet spaces to team activities such as movie nights, tech meetups, and cultural events.
