NORMAL COMPUTING | BUILD WITH US
Normal is an applied AI company solving the hardest problems in AI and silicon. We build foundational hardware and software for the semiconductor industry, critical AI infrastructure, and the broader systems that power our world, in partnership with the world's most advanced institutions. We work as one team across New York City, Silicon Valley (Mountain View), and London.
YOUR ROLE IN OUR MISSION
We are hiring a Social & Brand Content Lead to build Normal's audience, attract technical talent and tell a distinctive story about the future of AI computing. This is a hands-on, in-house individual-contributor role. You will spend most of your time finding stories with researchers and engineers, making original social content and publishing it. Your work will show what makes our hardware different and give people a reason to follow Normal and consider joining the team.
The challenge is to make unfamiliar hardware and demanding technical ideas compelling without losing what makes them accurate. A first successful hardware run, an engineering tradeoff or a scientist's explanation could become a short film, a live conversation or a recurring series. You will find the stories that help people understand a different approach to AI computing and want to be part of building it.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will own ideas from concept through production, distribution and iteration. You will work closely with colleagues in research, engineering, design, editorial and media relations to build a sustained audience for Normal's work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create original social content. Develop ideas that connect our research and hardware to questions people care about. Use creative positioning and counter-positioning to show what makes Normal distinctive. Write and make videos, visual stories, demos and repeatable formats, owning the work through publication and iteration. Capture useful moments in the lab and across the company, with appropriate technical review, to sustain an organic daily presence between major launches.
- Grow a relevant social audience. Own channel strategy, hands-on publishing and audience growth, with X as a priority platform and particular attention to engineers, researchers and prospective colleagues. Help technical talent understand the work they could do at Normal and the people they could work with. Test new channels, hooks, formats, cadence and distribution. Use performance and audience feedback to improve the work and understand why people follow, share and return.
- Lead social and brand content campaigns. Originate bold, playful and provocative ideas that get engineers and researchers talking about Normal. Take ideas through production, distribution and iteration.
- Keep Normal in relevant conversations. Follow AI, technology and internet culture. Turn relevant developments into original content and timely spokesperson briefings, bringing a clear point of view grounded in Normal's work.
- Build community relationships. Engage developers, researchers and community organizers through useful demos and conversations. Bring their questions back to the team. Test interviews, podcasts, AMAs and livestreams that can grow and deepen Normal's audience.
- Explore new media opportunities. Develop creator collaborations and evaluate sponsorships and podcast opportunities based on audience fit, creative potential, cost and likely impact. Produce content and activations, then use results to decide which experiments deserve more investment.
- Create event-led social content. Partner with the events team on social content for selected launches, conferences and company-hosted events. Contribute ideas and publish content before, during and after. Capture our CEO and other leaders at speaking engagements, including informal conversations and behind-the-scenes moments. Day-to-day social production and audience growth remain the primary focus of the role.
- Accelerate the impact of our technical work. Partner with scientists, engineers and leaders to expand the reach of their work through social stories and recruiting content. Build on their expertise and existing audiences, preserving their individual voices. Create simple ways for colleagues to contribute regularly, with the shared goal of growing Normal's audience and reputation.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Audience growth. You have grown a relevant social audience through original content and sustained publishing, whether for a company, a technical community or your own work. Show us the growth, timeframe and audience relevance, with clear examples of your own creative, production and distribution work.
- Hands-on creative craft. You have a strong production skill, such as video, writing or design, and can take an idea into finished work. You can brief specialists, judge their work and bring the pieces together. Show us what you made yourself and what you led through others.
- Taste and internet fluency. You closely follow AI, technology and internet culture and understand the technical conversations, communities and formats that resonate. Your work shows a point of view, good judgment about audience and channel, and attention to execution.
- Technical fluency and collaboration. You can discuss AI research and hardware with technical colleagues, ask informed questions, and turn expert input into credible, engaging content without overstating it. Show us how you learned difficult technical material and made it useful to an audience. Demonstrated ability matters more than a particular degree or employer.
- Social portfolio. Your portfolio shows original social content, good judgment about format and audience, and depth in at least one production craft. Show how you developed, published and improved the work, distinguishing your own contribution from collaborators' work. Experience with creators and developer communities is useful.
- Creative collaboration and delivery. You can lead a creative project, coordinate production partners, give useful feedback and manage deadlines and budgets while keeping confidential information secure.
- Travel readiness. Willingness to travel for lab and product filming, customer and partner stories, conferences and Normal-hosted experiences.
