About the role
Contract ManagementNegotiationLegal Research
Swarm Aero is redefining air power, building the largest swarming UAV and the most versatile swarming aircraft network in the world. The company is moving quickly to launch the first aircraft designed specifically for swarming, as well as the Command & Control software to mobilize swarms of thousands of heterogeneous autonomous assets and empower human operators to achieve superhuman results.
The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars, and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic.
We're looking for a part-time law student in the Fayetteville area to help build and run our contracting process. You'll own the day-to-day NDA workflow, support review and negotiation of commercial and government agreements, and create the templates and playbooks that let a fast-moving aerospace company work efficiently with partners, vendors, customers, and government entities. You'll work directly with leadership and technical teams on real agreements and business decisions.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Own the NDA process end to end: drafting, reviewing counterparty paper, redlining, coordinating comments, and maintaining records
• Review and support negotiation of consultant, vendor, supplier, teaming, and government agreements and SOWs
• Flag and explain key issues such as IP, data rights, confidentiality, liability, indemnification, payment terms, export controls, and flow-downs
• Work with engineering, finance, security, and operations to understand the purpose and risk of each agreement
• Build and maintain templates, clause libraries, checklists, approval workflows, and a contract tracker covering status, renewals, and obligations
• Conduct targeted legal research and summarize findings in a clear, decision-oriented format
• Document recurring issues and recommend process improvements as the business grows
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Currently enrolled in law school and based in the Fayetteville area
• Interest in contracts, IP, government contracts, technology transactions, or national security law
• Clear writing and the ability to explain legal issues to engineers and business leaders
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment with confidential information, and follow-through on deadlines across multiple agreements
• Comfort proposing redlines and explaining the reasoning behind them
• Availability to work part-time during the academic year, scheduled around classes
NICE TO HAVE
• Enrolled at the University of Arkansas School of Law
• Coursework or experience in contracts, IP, government contracts, or national security law
• Experience with NDAs, consulting or vendor agreements, or SOWs
• Familiarity with FAR/DFARS, ITAR, CUI, or data rights
• Experience building trackers, intake forms, or workflows, or using CLM tools
• Prior work in a law firm, legal department, startup, or government agency
WHAT YOU DON'T NEED
No aerospace experience, technical background, or perfect academic record required. Bar admission is not required; you'll work under appropriate supervision. Show us you can read carefully, ask good questions, spot meaningful risks, and turn analysis into a practical recommendation.
THE HONEST VERSION
We move fast and are still building many of our processes. You may get an NDA that needs a quick turn, a government SOW with unfamiliar provisions, or a request with incomplete context. We'll expect you to ask questions, separate material issues from minor ones, and leave each process better than you found it. The goal isn't just marking up documents; it's building a contracting function that's useful to the people building our aircraft, software, and business.
ITAR requirement
To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
