About Renewed Vision For more than 25 years, Renewed Vision has built software that powers live experiences around the world. Our products, including ProPresenter, are used in worship services, broadcasts, corporate events, and sports venues. We're a mostly remote company with our home office just outside Atlanta, Georgia. The Role At Renewed Vision, engineers with different specialties work together to build products that help people create exceptional live experiences. As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll focus on the web applications and services that connect customers to our products—including accounts, commerce, licensing, entitlements, and customer-facing experiences. We embrace new technologies when they help us move faster and build better products, not simply because they're new. Our engineering workflow is AI-first, moving from product direction in Notion to execution in Linear, agent-assisted development, and AI-powered code review. We believe these tools create tremendous leverage, but strong engineering judgment, quality, and accountability remain essential. We're looking for a hands-on technical leader who is curious, adaptable, and energized by how rapidly software engineering is evolving. You'll help shape the technical direction of business-critical systems, make other engineers more effective, and help our engineering practices evolve alongside the technology. We value engineering fundamentals over allegiance to any particular language or framework. Our systems currently use PHP/Laravel and React, but our technology choices will evolve as our products and capabilities grow. We're looking for someone who can quickly become effective in unfamiliar technologies, evaluate tradeoffs without bias, and help others navigate change. Equally important is knowing when existing technology is the right choice. We also believe people who genuinely connect with our products and the environments we serve tend to thrive here. Familiarity with Renewed Vision or live production is a meaningful advantage. What You'll Do - Help steward the architecture, technical direction, and long-term health of our web systems. - Proactively identify and drive high-impact work that improves our products, reliability, and engineering effectiveness. - Make pragmatic architectural decisions, balancing long-term scalability with delivering customer value today. - Lead by example in AI-first engineering, helping establish effective workflows and appropriate quality safeguards. - Mentor and develop other engineers, distributing technical ownership and raising the capabilities of the team. - Collaborate across engineering specialties, product, and other departments to deliver cohesive customer experiences. Who You Are - An experienced engineer who has shaped architecture and technical direction for significant production systems. - A hands-on builder who uses AI extensively in engineering work and critically evaluates its output. - Curious and adaptable, eager to learn new technologies, languages, and approaches without becoming attached to any one of them. - Grounded in strong backend, distributed-systems, and modern web application fundamentals. - Pragmatic about engineering tradeoffs, balancing speed, maintainability, security, and long-term system health. - A technical leader who earns trust through judgment, collaboration, and execution rather than formal authority. - Motivated by creating meaningful products, improving how teams work, and helping other engineers succeed. Helpful Experience - Renewed Vision products or live-production workflows, including worship, broadcast, sports, or live events. - Experience with our current stack (PHP/Laravel, React, TypeScript, MySQL, Redis, AWS, Cloudflare) or comparable technologies. - Commerce, billing, identity, licensing, entitlements, or APIs serving desktop applications. - Modernizing mature systems, improving developer workflows, or implementing AI-assisted development practices.
