About the role

HRISExcel
Be the HR partner people actually call first You know HR is more than policies and paperwork. It's the conversation that keeps a great employee from walking out the door, the clean investigation that protects everyone, and the onboarding experience a new hire still talks about a year later. At MAU, our business is people — and our HR Generalist is at the center of how we take care of our own. This is a corporate HR role supporting MAU's internal employees and leaders. This role is built for someone in the Southeast who wants real ownership, direct access to leaders, and flexibility once you're up and running: hybrid if you live near an MAU office, remote-first if you don't. What you'll do - Partner with managers on day-to-day employee relations: coaching, performance conversations, corrective action, and conflict resolution. - Own the employee lifecycle from offer and onboarding through transfers, leaves, and offboarding, so every touchpoint feels organized and human. - Run fair, well-documented investigations and recommend practical resolutions. - Keep us compliant across multiple states: FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, I-9/E-Verify, and state-specific requirements. - Support benefits and leave administration, answering questions clearly and partnering with carriers and payroll. - Use data to drive decisions — turnover, engagement, and headcount reporting that leaders actually use. - Improve how HR works: refresh policies and the handbook, streamline processes, and help roll out new programs and HRIS updates. - Champion culture through recognition, engagement, and training initiatives. - Design and deliver training from time to time, from manager workshops to compliance refreshers, in person and virtually. - Represent HR with clients, joining client-facing meetings and calls where you bring polished, credible expertise in your areas of responsibility. What you bring - 3–5+ years of hands-on HR generalist experience; multi-state or multi-site experience is a strong plus. - Solid working knowledge of federal employment law and the confidence to apply it to real situations. - Employee relations and investigations experience you can talk about with specifics. - Comfort with an HRIS and Excel; you like turning data into clear recommendations. - Judgment, discretion, and a calm, approachable style people trust. - Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience. - Experience designing and facilitating training, with confident presentation skills for groups of any size. - Executive presence: you're professional, polished, and credible in client-facing meetings. - Tech-savvy and an early adopter of company tools, including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, Claude, and the other software and systems we use in HR. - Nice to have: SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR; staffing, manufacturing, or high-volume workforce experience. How and where you'll work - Based in the Southeast. You'll live in the region (GA, SC, NC, TN, AL, FL, or nearby). - First 90 days in person. You'll spend most of your first three months on-site, learning our business, our people, and our systems side by side with the team. Travel costs for training are covered. - Live within 50 miles of an MAU office? After training, you'll work in the office 3 days a week. - Farther away? After training, you'll work primarily from home, with in-person time for several key meetings and team events each year. Work environment This position operates in a professional office or home office environment and may occasionally require visits to customer sites, including manufacturing and industrial facilities. Travel 10% Physical demands - Ability to lift 5–20 lbs periodically and 50 lbs on occasion - Ability to stand/walk for up to 4 hours at a time, and up to 12 hours on site visit days - Ability to climb stairs multiple times a day - Ability to sit for up to 4 hours - Ability to ride in a car or plane for travel requirements and handle the demands of travel to and from locations Why you'll love working here - Pay: $70,000–$100,000, based on experience. - Flexibility: hybrid near an MAU office, or remote-first if you live farther away. - Impact: a visible role with direct access to leadership, where your ideas get implemented. - Growth: exposure to a fast-moving, people-first business with room to build your career. - Benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and [add MAU-specific perks].
