AI Phone - Head of Android / AOSP

ABOUT We are reimagining the phone. AI phones need to be proactive, intuitive, intelligent and low cost. This is a mission critical for rest of the world to adopt intelligence. There are over 5 billion people using everyday applications such as email, messaging, notes, tasks, and calendars, yet most are not AI-native. Our mission is to build proactive applications and devices that bring intelligence into daily conversations, coordination and workflows, with minimal prompting. Focus: Agent runtime, context, memory, orchestration and overall AI system architecture. RESPONSIBILITIES - Own the overall Android platform architecture and AOSP-based ROM development. - Define how AI capabilities should be integrated at the OS level. - Design system services and privileged APIs that allow AI agents to interact with the OS and applications. - Define system-level permission and security architecture. - Evaluate Android platform limitations and identify what needs to be modified or extended. - Work with hardware vendors / ODMs on device integration. - Lead Android platform engineering and establish technical standards. - Evaluate technical feasibility and trade-offs for the first phone. REQUIREMENTS - Strong experience with Android Open Source Project (AOSP). - Deep understanding of Android Framework, System Services and Android internals. - Experience with Binder IPC, Android permissions, SELinux and system processes. - Strong Java / Kotlin and C++ knowledge. - Experience building or modifying Android ROMs. - Experience shipping Android platform-level features, not just Android applications. - Strong system architecture and technical leadership experience. NICE TO HAVE - Experience from Google Android / Pixel, Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO or similar Android platform teams. - Experience with custom ROM development. - Experience with Android BSP, HAL and device bring-up. - Experience with background execution and power optimization. - Experience integrating AI or ML capabilities at the OS level.
