About the role

It started with a simple idea: what if surgery could be less invasive and recovery less painful? Nearly 30 years later, that question still fuels everything we do at Intuitive. As a global leader in robotic-assisted surgery and minimally invasive care, our technologies—like the da Vinci surgical system and Ion—have transformed how care is delivered for millions of patients worldwide. We’re a team of engineers, clinicians, and innovators united by one purpose: to make surgery smarter, safer, and more human. Every day, our work helps care teams perform with greater precision and patients recover faster, improving outcomes around the world. The problems we solve demand creativity, rigor, and collaboration. The work is challenging, but deeply meaningful—because every improvement we make has the potential to change a life. If you’re ready to contribute to something bigger than yourself and help transform the future of healthcare, you’ll find your purpose here. Primary Function of the Position The Chief of Staff, Corporate Strategy will report to the Head of Corporate Strategy. This role serves as her key operating and coordination partner, ensuring that Intuitive’s enterprise-wide strategic agenda runs smoothly day to day — from the cadence of key strategy meetings to the follow-through on priority workstreams across the organization. This is a unique opportunity to sit at the center of Intuitive’s corporate strategy function, with visibility into the company’s most important strategic decisions. The Chief of Staff will own the operating rhythm of the Corporate Strategy function, including planning and facilitating key strategy meetings and related forums, tracking progress and decisions across the enterprise-wide strategic workstream portfolio, and ensuring information flows efficiently between the Head of Corporate Strategy, DRIs, executive sponsors, and the CEO. Success requires exceptional organizational rigor, sound judgment, the ability to synthesize complex information quickly, and the trust and discretion to operate close to the CEO and senior leadership. Key Responsibilities - Own the operating rhythm of the Corporate Strategy function, including planning, agenda-setting, and follow-through for key strategy meetings and other recurring strategic forums. - Partner with the Head of Corporate Strategy to prioritize her time and attention across the enterprise-wide strategic workstream portfolio, surfacing the issues and decisions that most need her focus. - Track progress, decisions, and action items across enterprise-wide strategic workstreams, holding DRIs and executive sponsors accountable for timely follow-through. - Prepare, review, and quality-control materials, briefings, and presentations for key strategy meetings, senior leadership, and other executive forums. - Serve as a trusted thought partner and sounding board to the Head of Corporate Strategy on emerging issues, priorities, and organizational dynamics. - Manage the flow of information between the Corporate Strategy function and leaders across the organization, ensuring the right people have the right information at the right time. - Identify and help remove roadblocks to progress on strategic initiatives, escalating issues appropriately and driving resolution. - Lead special projects and analyses on behalf of the Head of Corporate Strategy as enterprise priorities evolve. - Support team operations for the Corporate Strategy function, including planning, resource allocation, and talent processes as needed. - Represent the Head of Corporate Strategy in select meetings and forums, ensuring continuity and consistent messaging across the organization.  Required Skills and Experience - Bachelor's degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred. - 12+ years of progressive professional experience, ideally spanning strategy consulting, corporate strategy, executive or chief-of-staff roles, or an equivalent analytical/operational role, preferably within medical device or broader healthcare industries. - Demonstrated experience operating in a chief-of-staff, executive-office, or similar role supporting senior leaders, ideally within a large, matrixed organization. - Exceptional organizational and program-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and competing priorities. - Strong executive communication skills, including experience preparing materials for and presenting to senior executives and boards. - Sound judgment and discretion in handling highly sensitive and confidential information. - Proven ability to build trust and influence across a large, matrixed organization without relying on formal authority. - Strong written synthesis skills; able to distill complex, ambiguous information into clear, decision-ready recommendations. - High degree of professional judgment, integrity, and ownership. Due to the nature of our business and the role, please note that Intuitive and/or your customer(s) may require that you show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases including COVID-19.  Details can vary by role.
