SUMMARY
GCM Grosvenor is seeking a Platform Operations & Automation Analyst consultant for the Finance Product Area of the Technology Product & Strategy department of a dynamic alternative investment management firm. This is not a traditional “keep the lights on” support role. The analyst will own the front line of business-facing support for our finance applications and, partnering closely with Product Managers, Engineers and AI agents, systematically automate away the manual work to deliver technology solutions that:
- Reduce the support and maintenance burden on Business Analysts and Engineers so they can focus on delivering the product roadmap;
- Improve data quality and integrity across our finance and master entity data platforms; and
- Expand self-service for business users through AI-powered knowledge skills, agents, and automated workflows
The analyst treats every recurring support request as a signal: triage it, resolve it, find the root cause, and then eliminate it – through a code fix, an upstream data-quality control, a self-service AI skill, or an automated workflow. Success is measured not by tickets closed but by the number of tickets that never need to be opened again, and the hours of manual work returned to the team.
The initial area of focus will be the Finance Product Area’s highest-volume support streams: master entity data cleanup and entity consolidation (including duplicate fund and portfolio entities and their downstream impact across systems), integration and data-feed issues across fund administration, portfolio monitoring, accounting, and CRM platforms, and the steady flow of recurring questions from Finance, Treasury, and Investment Operations users. The analyst will build on existing wins including Claude-based knowledge skills that answer recurring business questions, AI agents that research issues and generate cleanup scripts, and monitoring agents that triage errors into Jira. This analyst will be challenged to and scale them across the product area. Future initiatives include upstream data-validation layers ahead of system ingestion and a formal support-to-roadmap feedback loop so root causes are prioritized alongside new development.
As an onsite/hybrid employee, you are expected to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the first point of contact for business-facing support across Finance Product Area applications – triaging, researching, and resolving issues and questions from Finance, Treasury, and Investment Operations users.
- Identify patterns in recurring support requests, manual workarounds, and data cleanup; quantify their cost (support volume, time spent, hours automated away), document root causes, and use those insights to influence prioritization with Product Managers.
- Build, maintain, and continuously improve AI skills and agents that answer recurring business questions, research issues, and generate remediation steps, with appropriate human review before any data-changing action. Curate the knowledge base (Confluence pages, runbooks, system documentation) that powers these tools and enables self-service.
- Coordinate cross-team data remediation, such as entity consolidation and downstream impact analysis, ensuring changes are validated by owning teams and communicated clearly.
- Monitor data flows between integrated systems and partner with team members, handing off true production issues as clear, well-researched Jira stories.
- Support UAT and regression testing for fixes and enhancements, leveraging AI to accelerate test planning and execution.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- 2+ years of experience as a BA for custom development and/or vendor implementations.
- Required: Demonstrated, hands-on experience using generative AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, ) to automate work – building prompts, skills, agents, or workflows that others rely on, not just casual use.
- Experience in application or production support with a track record of eliminating recurring issues, not just resolving them.
- Strong SQL and data analysis skills (including statistical analysis); comfortable investigating data across multiple systems and databases to find root causes.
- Experience in investment analysis and the asset management industry, or familiarity with fund accounting, investor/LP administration, or finance operations platforms (e.g., Investran, iLevel, Salesforce, DealCloud), is a plus.
- Experience working in collaborative environments and with Agile methodologies, with effective communication skills and the ability to synthesize complex concepts for various audiences.
- Adaptable, dependable, and dedicated to your products and team, with a continuous-improvement mindset: you see manual, repetitive work as a problem to be engineered away.
It is expected that the hourly range for this Chicago based position will be $77-90/hour. Actual hourly range may vary based on factors such as individual's experience, skills, and qualifications for the role.
In terms of cultural fit, the successful candidate will be self-motivated and energized by working amongst a group of thoughtful, smart, fast-paced, and successful colleagues. The successful candidate will enjoy being a part of an organization focused on excellence and will be a naturally collaborative individual who enjoys interacting with individuals at all levels. Additionally, the successful candidate will be a strong team player with a proactive approach and the ability to take initiative with discretion and judgment.
