Als Logistics Engineer bij GEODIS ben jij verantwoordelijk voor het ontwerp, de optimalisatie en de implementatie van logistieke processen binnen uiteenlopende projecten. Je werkt aan nieuwe klantimplementaties, re-engineering van bestaande klanten en migraties naar nieuwe systemen. Je schakelt tussen master data, inbound, opslag, outbound, retouren, value added services en de verbindingen met transport, customs, IT en facilitaire diensten. Zowel (semi-)automatische als traditionele logistieke concepten komen aan bod.
Taken & Verantwoordelijkheden
1. Structuur & Kwaliteit
- Werken volgens de GEODIS engineering-methodologie, bijdragen aan de verbetering ervan en naleven van interne procedures en wetgeving.
- Structureren en plannen van werkzaamheden binnen projecten en cross-checks uitvoeren.
- Werk laten controleren door collega’s en verbetervoorstellen initiëren.
- Taken delegeren aan andere afdelingen en opvolgen.
2. Data-analyse
- Bepalen welke data nodig is voor procesontwerp en deze opvragen.
- Uitvoeren van gedetailleerde analyses van datasets.
- Identificeren van kritische procesfactoren.
- Capaciteitsplanning maken (pieken en dalen op jaar-, maand- en weekniveau).
- Documenteren van aannames en deze onderbouwen.
3. Procesontwerp & Systeemoplossing
- Evalueren van bestaande ontwerpen en financiële aspecten.
- Alternatieven bepalen en overleggen met leveranciers over opties en kosten.
- Maken van warehouse-layouts, opslagconfiguraties en procesflows (zowel fysiek als systeemgerelateerd).
- Documenteren van ontwerpkeuzes en onderbouwing.
- Ontwikkelen van functionele systeemoplossingen op basis van data-analyse.
4. Kostenmodellen
- Opstellen, bijwerken en valideren van kostmodellen op basis van volumes, processtappen en investeringen.
- Vertalen van kosten naar tariefstructuren.
- Valideren van productiviteit, investeringen, indirecte kosten en P&L-berekening met het site management en business control.
- Uitleggen van kostenverschillen aan commercie.
5. Presentatie
- Samenstellen van presentatiedocumenten met kerngegevens, procesontwerp, layout, organisatie, investeringskosten en aannames.
- Presenteren aan interne en externe klanten.
- Feedback verwerken na presentaties.
6. Implementatie
- Deelnemen aan business requirement workshops met klanten en duidelijke vragen stellen.
- Uitwerken van alternatieven en beoordelen of GEODIS-standaarden volstaan.
- Gedetailleerd uitwerken van processen, functionele specificaties opstellen en meedenken over systeemopzet.
- Layout aanpassen en order specificaties bepalen, offertes opvragen en bestellingen plaatsen.
- Kosten berekenen bij aanvullende klantwensen.
- Testscenario’s definiëren, trainingsdocumentatie maken en trainingen verzorgen.
- Master data voorbereiden voor WMS en labels.
- Ondersteunen bij data-conversies en go-live.
7. Aftercare & Continue Verbetering
- Evalueren of de beoogde resultaten behaald zijn (meten en analyseren).
- Corrigerende maatregelen bepalen en doorvoeren.
- Bijwerken van kostmodellen en documentatie waar nodig.
8. Kwaliteit, Veiligheid & Milieu
- Naleven van het STS-QSE beleid van GEODIS en de geldende normen (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 22000).
- Procedures en richtlijnen volgen zoals vastgelegd op het STS QSE netwerk.

As a Logistics Engineer at GEODIS, you are responsible for the design, optimization, and implementation of logistics processes within various projects. You will work on new customer implementations, re-engineering of existing customer solutions, and migrations to new systems. You act as a subject matter expert for process and system design in warehousing and value-added services, bridging to transport, customs, IT, and facility departments. You will work with both (semi-)automated and traditional logistics concepts at all GEODIS CL sites in the Netherlands.
Tasks & Responsibilities
1. Structure & Quality
- Work according to the GEODIS engineering methodology and contribute to its continuous improvement.
- Structure and plan your activities within project deadlines.
- Verify your own work and have it checked by colleagues.
- Initiate and implement improvement proposals.
- Delegate tasks to other departments and follow up on progress.
2. Data Analysis
- Determine and request the data required for process design.
- Perform in-depth analysis of data sets.
- Identify key process factors.
- Plan capacity, including peak and off-peak periods (annual, monthly, weekly).
- Document and substantiate assumptions.
3. Process Design & System Solution
- Evaluate existing or predefined designs and related financial aspects.
- Develop efficient and effective alternatives and consult with suppliers about options and costs.
- Create detailed warehouse layouts, storage configurations, and process flows (both physical and system-related).
- Document design choices and rationale.
- Develop functional system solutions based on data analysis.
4. Cost Models
- Create, update, and validate cost models based on volumes, process steps, and investments.
- Translate costs into the desired rate structures.
- Validate productivity, investments, indirect costs, and P&L calculations with site management and business control.
- Explain cost variances to the commercial team.
5. Presentation
- Prepare presentation documents including key data, process design, layouts, organizational charts, investment costs, and assumptions.
- Present solutions to internal and external clients.
- Record and process feedback after presentations.
6. Implementation
- Participate in business requirement workshops with (internal) clients, asking clear and detailed questions.
- Develop alternatives and assess whether GEODIS standards suffice or if custom developments are needed.
- Detail out processes, prepare functional specifications, and contribute to system setup.
- Adjust warehouse layouts and define order specifications; request quotes and place orders.
- Calculate costs for additional client requirements.
- Define and document test scenarios, prepare training documentation, and deliver training to operations staff.
- Prepare data sets for WMS and external orders
- Support data conversion and the go-live phase.
7. Aftercare & Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate whether intended results have been achieved (measure and analyse).
- Determine and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Update cost models and documentation where necessary.
8. Quality, Safety & Environment
- Comply with GEODIS’s STS-QSE policy and applicable standards (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 22000).
- Follow procedures and guidelines as established in the STS QSE network.
