JOB OVERVIEW
Pretium Enterprise Services (PES) is seeking a Junior Chief of Staff to the Head of AI (Analyst) to join our AI team supporting Pretium & our Operating Companies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the operational cadence of the AI team, tracking its initiatives and spend, and preparing the materials the Head of AI uses with executives and partner teams. This is an analyst-level individual contributor role, reporting directly into the Head of AI and based in our Miami office.
The role suits someone with 1 to 3 years of experience who wants a wide view of how an AI organization at a leading financial institution is run, and who can turn loose requests into finished work.
Pretium has made AI a key part of our investing and asset management process. This role will be focused on ensuring the tactical objectives that make the AI team successful (status tracking, follow-ups, meeting prep, etc.) are completed in a timely and high quality fashion. This role partners directly with the Head of AI to ensure the success of various AI initiatives across the firm.
OUR APPROACH AND OPPORTUNITY
Our most successful team members in this role show:
- Reliable follow-through. Does what was agreed, on the date agreed, and says early when something will slip.
- Initiative without overreach. Fills gaps in a process unprompted, and knows which decisions belong to the Head of AI.
- Discretion. Treats sensitive information as sensitive, including in casual conversation.
- Range in tone. Comfortable with engineers and with senior executives, and adjusts the level of detail for each.
- Curiosity about AI. Learns the technology and the vocabulary quickly, and asks good questions when something is unclear.
- Composure. Handles shifting priorities and short deadlines without losing accuracy.
This role provides excellent development opportunities for the right candidate. The Junior Chief of Staff will see how AI priorities are set and executed on, as well as work directly with key executives and their teams throughout Pretium. Over the long term, this role could grow into a Chief of Staff, a program lead, or a product or strategy role inside the AI organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Run the Head of AI’s weekly and monthly operational tasks: leadership meetings, project reviews, and planning cycles, including agendas, pre-reads, notes, and tracked actions.
- Manage the Head of AI’s priorities and calendar, and flag conflicts between what is scheduled and what has been declared important.
- Closely collaborate with the larger AI team, including developers, forward deployed engineers and data scientists to track AI initiatives.
- Build updates for senior leadership, including reconciling key numbers against sources of truth.
- Track AI budget and vendor spend against plan; surface variances early.
- Prepare the Head of AI for meetings with executives and investors with short briefs on context, open questions, and the ask.
- Partner with groups outside of the AI team, including investment, operations and investor relations teams to create deliverables related to AI.
- Coordinate across data, engineering, security, legal, and procurement on reviews and approvals that AI projects depend on.
- Support organization-wide efforts such as offsites, hiring pipelines, onboarding of new team members, and internal communications on AI.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in consulting, strategy and operations, program management, investment banking, or a similar analyst role.
- Excel: Strong Excel skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience developing briefs for an executive audience.
- AI Experience: Hands on experience with generative and agentic AI. This is not a technical role, but the ideal candidate will have enough technology experience to follow a conversation about models, data, and deployment without a translator.
- Preferred Skills: While not required, the following are a benefit:
- Experience in a technology, data, or AI organization
- Prior work in financial services
- Technical experience – software engineering, data science, data engineering, etc.
- Exposure to budgeting, vendor management, or procurement
If you don’t meet 100% of these qualifications but are passionate about AI and how it can power data-driven investing at scale, we encourage you to apply – we value impact, judgment, and a growth mindset as much as years of experience.
WHAT WE OFFER
At Pretium, you’ll operate at the intersection of data, AI, and investing, supporting platforms that directly inform firm-wide strategy and capital allocation. You’ll have high visibility and the opportunity to help define AI strategy that helps determine how billions of dollars in capital are invested.
