Who we are
Open Government Products (OGP) operates like a startup within the government; We are a fast-paced, dynamic team of engineers, designers, and product managers dedicated to public good. We autonomously identify opportunities to solve public problems using tech, rapidly prototype, and launch solutions - from citizen apps to automating public agency operations. Embracing an open-sourced and flat hierarchy, we cut through bureaucracy to focus on real-world, user-centric innovations that drive change.
About the role
The Public Engagement (PE) team helps connect OGP's work with the people and communities we serve. We shape how our organisation, products and initiatives are understood, develop campaigns that drive awareness and engagement, build relationships with the media and partners, and manage OGP’s public presence.
Our programmes already work with partners such as hospital clusters, youth organisations and community development councils, and with charities and social service agencies. We want this to become a deliberate function, with clear priorities, steady relationships and a way to measure whether partnerships lead to adoption. We want to convert one-off conversations and feedback sessions with the government into long-lasting partnerships and programmes that citizens benefit from.
We’re looking for a Sector Partnerships Lead to own this. You’ll build and manage partnerships across healthcare, youth, social services and the public sector, and connect them to products that need a way in.
You’ll work closely with the corporate communications & product marketing team within PE, OGP product teams, government agencies and community partners. Not every partnership will come with a clear brief. You’ll find the opportunities, shape the proposal and carry it through.
This is an individual contributor role with significant ownership and autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage sector partnerships. Identify, approach and maintain relationships with institutions, agencies, charities and social service agencies. Agree clear terms, whether that is funding, hosting, co-creation or pilots, and keep partners engaged over time.
- Open doors for OGP products. Work with product teams to find the right stakeholders in each sector, such as hospital clusters for HealthTech or agencies and charities. Help teams run pilots, workshops and introductions that lead to first use.
- Bring sector problems to us. Gather the problems partners face and pass them to our civic tech ecosystem builders, so partners shape what gets built next.
- Track adoption, not just introductions. Baseline and track how many partners use OGP products, how many users each has, and which relationships lead to repeat use. Report honestly on what is working.
- Secure support beyond government. Work with PE and community partners to find support for programmes.
- Keep a shared record. Maintain partner records, agreements and playbooks so relationships don’t depend on one person.
Who We’re Looking For
- At least 5 years of experience in partnerships, stakeholder management, business development or programme work, with strong relationships in healthcare, social services, youth or the public sector.
- A track record of turning introductions into commitments, such as a pilot, funding, or an agency taking up a product.
- Strong communicator and negotiator who can work with senior officials and community groups, and handle differing interests with tact.
- Strategic and evidence-led. You can set priorities across many possible partners and judge what is worth pursuing.
- Takes initiative and is comfortable with ambiguity. You build relationships without waiting for instructions, and know when to challenge assumptions or escalate.
- Curious about technology and committed to public service. A technical background is preferred but not required.
Experience in the technology sector specially in product teams, government or social impact space (specifically community-building space) is a strong advantage.
