Locum Consultant Surgeon

Our client is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Temporary Consultant Surgeon for a period of 12 months. The successful candidate will join the existing consultant surgical team and will provide a high standard of consultant-led clinical care to patients attending University Hospital in the west of Ireland. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and will contribute to the delivery, development and continuous improvement of the surgical service. Principal Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will: - Provide consultant-level clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of patients. - Undertake elective and emergency surgical procedures appropriate to their specialty and level of training. - Participate in outpatient clinics, operating theatre lists, ward rounds and other relevant clinical activities. - Participate in the surgical on-call service, where applicable. - Provide clinical leadership and supervision to non-consultant hospital doctors and other members of the clinical team. - Work collaboratively with colleagues across surgical, medical and multidisciplinary services. - Contribute to clinical governance, audit, quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives. - Participate in the education, training and supervision of medical students, NCHDs and other healthcare professionals. - Maintain appropriate clinical records and comply with HSE policies, procedures and professional standards. - Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the surgical service. - Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and specialty as may be assigned.
