Fabrication Shop Assistant / Welder in Training - $21-25/hour | Full-Time | Benefits PFC Metalworks PFC Metalworks is part of a small family of companies that are employee owned.  We specialize in structural steel and architectural metals fabrication, and are seeking a reliable, motivated Fabrication Shop Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work alongside experienced welders and fabricators, learn the trade from the ground up, and help keep our shop running safely and on schedule. Key Responsibilities - Prepare the work area by staging materials, tools, and equipment before fabrication begins - Bevel and prepare steel plate and parts for welding - Remove spatter and clean finished welds using grinders and wire wheels - Assist welders and fabricators with moving, fitting, and holding parts in position - Maintain a clean and organized shop, including sweeping, returning tools to their proper place, and clearing scrap - Follow all safety procedures and help maintain a safe work environment Qualifications - 1 year of experience in a shop, fabrication, construction, or industrial setting preferred, but not required - Familiarity with hand and power tools, or a strong willingness to learn - Dependable and punctual, with a commitment to a consistent schedule - Ability to take direction and work effectively as part of a team - Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical work Requirements - Valid Washington State driver's license - Ability to stand for up to 10 hours and to lift or move up to 40 lbs. continuously (team or equipment lift required for heavier items) - Ability to work in a climate-controlled shop, and occasionally outdoors, with exposure to noise, sparks, arc flash, and fumes Schedule Monday-Thursday | 6:30am-5pm | Frequent opportunities for overtime  What We Offer - $21.00 – $25.00 per hour, based on experience - Full Family Medical, Dental, and Vison benefits - Retirement benefits; 401(k) and Employee Stock Ownership Plan At PFC Metalworks, we invest in our people and promote from within.
