About the role
HubSpotBusiness DevelopmentCRMHIPAA
Wheelhouse DMG is a sought-after digital marketing agency that has worked with some of the world’s most innovative healthcare, medical device, and privacy-first brands for more than a decade. We consistently deliver exceptional business value through a combination of deep marketing expertise, purpose-built technology, and creative capabilities. As platform automation and privacy regulations disrupt traditional marketing initiatives, much of our work focuses on helping healthcare and MedTech organizations drive performance in a first-party data world.
Examples of our work include:
- Unlocking performance for a medical device client by employing sophisticated first-party data strategies
- Developing and implementing HIPAA-compliant data strategies for healthcare and MedTech clients
- Reimagining the appointment booking experience to create exponential growth for one of the largest healthcare systems in the U.S.
- Leading strategy for the consolidation of 2.5 million web pages on 39 NASA websites into a single, unified information architecture and content strategy for NASA’s Science Directorate
We are seeking an organized and personable Business Development Representative to join Wheelhouse and partner with our Growth Manager. Our marketing and brand awareness efforts generate a steady flow of inbound interest from healthcare, MedTech, and privacy first organizations. The BDR nurtures those relationships, learning each prospect’s business needs and where Wheelhouse might be a fit. Your first priority is to be a helpful steward who leaves a positive first impression of Wheelhouse. When the timing is right, you’ll introduce them to our Growth Manager.
Strategic Focus
The BDR owns the part of the funnel between a lead's first engagement with Wheelhouse and their first conversation with our Growth Manager. You will qualify each lead against our ideal customer profile, keep the conversation going, and book meetings the Growth Manager considers real fits.
Who You Are
Wheelhouse is a hands-on team, and you'll wear more than one hat. You think strategically about how your part of the funnel connects to our larger growth goals, and you're energized by finding new ways to introduce our brand and move prospects forward.
You are organized and persistent, and you follow up consistently without being pushy. You know the difference between being helpful and selling, and your outreach reads like it was written for the person receiving it. You are comfortable starting conversations at a trade show booth and just as comfortable working a pipeline in a CRM. You understand that professional services are chosen on trust and expertise, built over time. You are curious about how healthcare and MedTech organizations make decisions, and you can speak credibly with the marketers who work in them.
In this role, you will:
- Nurture relationships from first engagement to a booked introductory meeting with our Growth Manager through helpful outreach
- Write personalized outreach based on each lead's company, role, and how they engaged with Wheelhouse
- Think strategically about how to introduce Wheelhouse to new audiences and move prospects down the funnel
- Help refine our messaging and build the sales enablement materials that support it
- Contribute ideas to marketing and retargeting campaigns
- Book meetings with prospects ahead of industry events, then meet them in person at the Wheelhouse booth
- Re-engage stalled and dormant leads with relevant content, including podcast episodes, case studies, and points of view
- Keep HubSpot accurate so the team always knows where each lead stands
- Share what you hear from prospects so our messaging and nurture content keep improving
Core Responsibilities
Lead Nurture & Outreach
- Own nurture of all current leads in HubSpot, building relationships and understanding each prospect’s needs before introducing them to the Growth Manager.
- Run proactive, multi-channel outreach across email, phone, LinkedIn, and event follow-up, sharing relevant Wheelhouse content such as podcast episodes, case studies, and POVs
- Personalize outreach based on each lead's company, role, and how they engaged with Wheelhouse
- Qualify leads against Wheelhouse's ideal customer profile and lead scoring before booking meetings
- Re-engage stalled or dormant leads
Events & Conferences
- Book meetings with prospects and leads who will be attending upcoming conferences and trade shows
- Travel to industry events and support the Wheelhouse booth, meeting prospects and building relationships
- Capture and log event contacts in HubSpot promptly
- Own post-event follow-up so every conversation continues while it’s still fresh
CRM & Pipeline Management
- Keep HubSpot accurate and current, including lead status, lifecycle stage, activity logging, and notes
- Work alongside our automated HubSpot nurture program, picking up the leads it surfaces and flagging where sequences or content aren't landing
- Prepare clear handoff notes for the Growth Manager ahead of each meeting
Growth Strategy & Enablement
- Think strategically about how top-of-funnel activity supports Wheelhouse’s larger growth goals
- Identify new ways to introduce Wheelhouse to prospective clients and move them down the funnel
- Help refine our messaging and build sales enablement materials to support it
- Contribute ideas to marketing and retargeting campaigns
Collaboration & Feedback
- Partner day to day with the Growth Manager, who takes every meeting you book
- Work with the marketing team on nurture content, campaigns, and event planning
- Draw on our Digital Advertising, Digital Strategy, and Marketing Sciences practice leads when a lead has specific questions
- Share what's working and what isn't with the Growth Manager and marketing team, including messaging, objections, and lead quality
Experience & Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a BDR, SDR, lead nurture, or similar business development role, with a track record of booking qualified meetings
- Strategic thinker who enjoys wearing multiple hats on a small, fast-moving team
- Understanding of how to sell into MedTech, healthcare, or other highly regulated industries, including longer buying cycles, multiple decision-makers, and compliance-conscious buyers
- Understanding of how professional services are sold: relationship-led, consultative, and built on trust
- Working proficiency with CRMs, including managing a pipeline, logging activity, and working from sequences and lists
- Strong written communication, with the ability to write personalized outreach that doesn't read like a template
- Confident and personable in live settings, including trade shows and conferences
- Organized and persistent, with consistent follow-up that never tips into pushy
- HubSpot experience strongly preferred
- Experience selling digital marketing, digital advertising, or other agency services preferred
- Familiarity with healthcare privacy concerns, such as HIPAA and consumer health data laws, and why they matter to marketers in this space is a plus
- An existing network in MedTech, medical device, healthcare, or insurance marketing is a plus
Logistics
- This is a fully remote role
- Travel to industry conferences and trade shows is required.

Beyond Experience: About You
You know digital marketing from every angle. You've earned a reputation as a T-shaped marketer, someone with deep expertise in your core discipline and the range to connect it to every other piece of the puzzle. You're always looking for the link between a tactic and the business goal it's meant to serve, and that focus on performance shows up in the results you deliver.
You'd rather enable your teammates than direct them. You thrive in collaborative work, the kind that fills up a whiteboard during a good brainstorm, and you listen closely for ways to help clients succeed, whether that's a new tactic worth testing, a piece of work worth proposing, or a better way to collaborate. You bring real emotional intelligence to the table, especially when it comes to delivering feedback with care.
You're helpful, generous, and empathetic, and you find real joy in helping others succeed. Wheelhouse's values aren't aspirational for you; they're already how you work. There's no room for cynicism here, and you wouldn't want there to be.
