Alamo Structural Steel, LLC is a leading structural steel fabricator in Texas, committed to integrity, quality, and excellence. As a Fitter/Welder, you will be responsible for fabricating a wide range of miscellaneous metal projects. This includes cutting and welding metal pieces and products using flame-cutting and hand-welding equipment. Minimum Starting Salary: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour - depending on experience (Full-time Alamo employees are eligible for shift differential pay) Shifts Available: Day Shift:  Monday - Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm            Nights: Monday - Thursday 3:00pm to 1:30am - Plus a $2.00 shift differential - Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces to be welded. - Maintain, organize, and keep work area and equipment in operating condition. - Hand-weld and/or flame-cut equipment to join metal components. - Cut and scarf using an oxy-acetylene torch. - Structural welding using FCAW & SMAW. - Align and fit parts according to specifications using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers. - Properly assemble and disassemble weld setups. - Remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches. - Reshape metal workpieces to establish specifications. - Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Knowledge of metal and basic shop fabrication equipment. - Knowledge and proficiency in MIG welding with the ability to pass a welding test. - Knowledge of TIG welding is a plus. - Ability to read and interpret blueprints. - Ability to withstand pressure and adapt to change. - Ability to multi-task while meeting strict deadlines. Minimum Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED equivalent - Experience in a structural welding environment is preferred - Ability to pass a Fillet Weld Test.Physical Requirements: - Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. - Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. - Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
