We are driven by a shared belief that design transforms life. It challenges convention. It brings a unique point of view into the world. It sets trends. And it leaves a mark. F. Schumacher & Co., also known as FSCO, is the parent company of many brands within our portfolio. This role is part of our floorcovering brand, Patterson Flynn.

Our floorcovering brand Patterson Flynn is seeking a highly motivated, professional, design savvy Account Manager for our NYC trade - only showroom. The Account Manager represents Patterson Flynn across a geographic territory, bringing our floor covering to the designers and architects shaping the most interesting projects in the market. This is a road-based role. Most of your week is spent where the work happens, in designers' offices, at job sites, and in client presentations, building the relationships that bring new projects our way. This role will be based in NYC, NJ, Connecticut and the Philadelphia metro area.
Responsibilities
Territory and travel
- Own a defined geographic territory and build a weekly plan that keeps you close to your clients.
- Visit designers, architects and project teams at their offices; attend job sites and installations where the project calls for it.
- Analyze the territory to identify growth opportunities among existing accounts and prospects, and prioritize where your time goes.
- Introduce Patterson Flynn to firms who have not yet worked with us, and reconnect with those we have not seen in a while.
Selling and specification
- Maximize sales across all Patterson Flynn categories, including broadloom, custom rugs, and the labor and installation that goes with them.
- Present collections and line shows in a way that is tailored to each client's work and style. Prepare comprehensive proposals and quotes specific to the project, and see them through to close.
- Maintain current knowledge of product, pricing, lead times, competitors and trends, so clients can rely on what you promise them.
- Work with the showroom and workroom teams on samples, custom specifications and installation scheduling.
Pipeline and reporting
- Keep every quote and order current in our sales system, so pipeline and forecast are accurate at any time.
- Stay in regular contact on open quotes.
- Consistent follow-up is what carries a promising project across the line.
- Report on territory performance, forecast expected closings and invoicing, and bring roadblocks to your manager early.
- Provide the highest standard of service throughout, consistent with our position in the luxury market.
Requirements
Essentials
- Enthusiasm for being out in the territory most days
- Dependable transportation and a clean driving record.
- The independence to shape your own week, and the discipline to make the most of it.
- Confidence introducing yourself to firms who do not yet know us, and genuine enjoyment in building a network.
Sales experience
- A track record of setting ambitious sales goals and reaching them, and of guiding a sale through to close.
- Experience managing multiple accounts and building trusting, mutually successful client relationships.
- Ability to establish and execute a multi-brand account strategy in the interior design market.
- Demonstrated ability to identify growth opportunities, including high-potential customers and new accounts.
- Creative thinking to build account-level sales and develop new business in a rapidly changing environment.
- An entrepreneurial mindset and the ambition to build something of your own within an established brand.

- Strong organizational and follow-through skills, with real ownership of your territory and its results.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Windows and Office suite; comfort learning our sales and reporting systems.
- Basic knowledge and proficiency with Instagram and social media.
