Bisly is the Estonian market leader in developing, integrating, and maintaining smart building solutions. We are on a mission to save our planet by making professional intelligent buildings mainstream, and are actively looking to replicate our success in Germany and Poland. Even as we grow, we've kept our start-up DNA: small teams, wide ownership, and room to shape the whole system, not just a piece of it.
We are looking for a Software Engineer to help us drive what we build next.
As a Software Engineer at Bisly, you'll expand the brain of the building: the house server that runs various systems and integrations, tying thousands of connected devices together. You will help enable seamless data flow while ensuring reliability and performance. You will have a stake in every part of the architecture. From the bytes on a building's wiring to the services in our cloud, no part of the system is off-limits. This goes beyond maintenance – you'll help decide how it grows as we take it into new markets.
- Design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend services in C++ and Rust.
- Take technical ownership of projects and help decide where the architecture goes next.
- Define and implement data strategy and synchronization between systems.
- Optimize system performance and debug complex issues (memory, concurrency, I/O).
- Design and develop APIs for local and cloud-based services.
- Set the bar for clean, well-tested code, and keep raising it.
- Develop and deploy robust software for cloud and local environments.
- Evaluate, integrate, deploy, and optimize AI tools and services to support product innovation and business needs.
- Mentor others and help shape how we work as the team grows.
- Several years building backend or systems software, preferably in agile environments.
- Strong Rust and/or modern C++ skills. We also welcome people who want to dig deeper into Rust.
- A team player's instinct for fast-moving, cross-disciplinary work.
- Sound design judgment, and clean, well-tested code that others are glad to inherit.
- A knack for debugging, and a pragmatic approach to large, existing codebases.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, network protocols, and asynchronous runtimes.
- Experience with database engines (MariaDB, Postgres, NoSQL).
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and on-premise/local server environments.
- Experience designing and consuming APIs (REST, gRPC, or similar).
- Hands-on AI experience: integrating, deploying, or building AI-powered systems.
At Bisly, we value talent, innovation, and collaboration. Here’s what you can expect when you join our team:
- The chance to work on exciting projects and see your ideas come to life;
- Wellness compensation or additional health insurance with Stebby;
- Birthday leave and flexible vacation - your personal 'me time' to relax, explore, or spend time with loved ones;
- Competitive compensation package;
- Supportive work culture, with team-building events and activities.
