Who We Are
At Freestone, we believe in making a meaningful difference by focusing on what truly matters to our clients. With a 27-year history of consistent growth and success, we are an independent wealth and asset management firm with over $15 billion in assets under management. Headquartered in Washington, with a team of over 130 professionals, we are dedicated to delivering a highly personalized experience that combines intelligent, thoughtful advice with unique investment strategies and comprehensive financial planning.
About the Role
Freestone is seeking a proactive and organized individual to serve as a Private Equity Analyst as part of our Investment Team. The Private Equity Analyst will work within the Advantage Partners Fund Series, Freestone’s opportunistic private markets platform, providing our clients access to direct investments in private equity, energy, credit, and specialty insurance. In our private equity and energy strategies, we typically take majority-control positions alongside management teams, with investments across industrial services, oil and gas, and business services. Our credit and specialty insurance strategies round out the platform, giving the team a broad lens on private markets and the flexibility to pursue opportunities wherever we see the best risk-adjusted returns. Now in its seventh fund vintage, the platform has grown alongside Freestone’s client base, seeded several of Freestone’s dedicated strategy funds, and continues to expand into new strategies and relationships.
The Private Equity Analyst will be involved in sourcing and filtering new investment opportunities, fund operations, internal reporting, and team administration. The individual must be organized and responsive, with high attention to detail, as they will hold ownership over a diverse set of investment workflows and fund operations. The position also requires an ability to underwrite investment opportunities and distill investment analysis into recommendations for the Portfolio Manager and Freestone’s Investment Committee.

- Complete initial underwriting of new opportunities and share summaries and recommendations with the team.
- Collect and integrate monthly/quarterly reporting from underlying investment platforms and maintain regular touchpoints with investment partners.
- Create and maintain Investment Committee materials and memos.
- Produce and update marketing materials and reporting for Freestone clients, advisor teams, and other groups across the firm.
- Maintain fund models, liquidity forecasts, and investor capital activity schedules.
- Prepare external reports for Freestone’s accounting and banking relationships.
- Build and maintain relationships with investment bankers, brokers, and intermediaries to expand deal flow, including attending conferences and regional networking events.
- Conduct industry and market research for current and prospective asset classes.
- Support ad hoc portfolio management projects and fund-level analysis.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years of work experience within financial services or asset management.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple ongoing workflows.
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills; advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Interest in private markets and alternative investments, with working knowledge of capital markets.
- High attention to detail and ownership mentality.
- Comfort being the first point of contact with managers, operators, and intermediaries, and building relationships over time.
- Results-oriented, with comfort working in a small, collaborative team.
- Highest level of commitment to ethics and professionalism.
- Ability to travel periodically, including for conferences and networking events.
