About the role

SAPLeadership
At Contact, we believe home is the most important place in the world. That belief shapes everything we do, from leading the energy transition to how we power Aotearoa and care for our people and communities. We’re a power, broadband, and mobile company, but we’re also investing boldly in renewable energy and smarter, more connected ways of working (mahi). Our ambition is simple: to leave Aotearoa better than we found it. Guided by our values & behaviours, we’re a team who care deeply about the work we do, how we support one another, and the impact we have. Simply put, we touch lives to make life better. This fixed-term contract opportunity as Executive Assistant (EA) will support our Technology and Finance rōpū (groups) who are at the heart of Contact, key to ensuring the development and execution of our strategy. Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role Our superstar EA to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is going on parental leave soon, leaving us in need of another superstar who can look after things until her return in August 2027. This EA role is a little unique to others in that it incorporates Buyer duties for Finance and Technology. 60%+ of your attention will likely be focused on that at any one time, ramping up around month-end and the 20th of each month. This involves raising all purchase requisitions and orders for Finance and Technology, ensuring all invoices are processed for payment run, month-end processing, and reporting and analysis, with a lot of time spent in SAP. (SAP can take a bit to learn, so if you have solid SAP experience we’d be stoked!) Along with that, there’s a bunch of other stuff you’re probably more likely to expect from an EA role, like: - Diary management and support for the Finance and ICT Leadership Teams and direct reports, - Board and Leadership Team reporting, - Committee papers compilation and distribution, - Travel and events co-ordination, - Maintaining the team’s intranet pages, and - Working with other EAs to ensure a level of EA support is available in the office as required for certain topics such as providing hard copies of Board and Committee papers as soon as they are available. Ko wai koe | About you That person in the office others describe as a superstar, you’re a machine with admin, awesome with people, constantly thinking ahead, and the type to notice and do stuff that needs doing. You bring great energy to work; a pro at multi-tasking who’s comfortable juggling priorities, working to deadlines, and building relationships with a wide range of people. You’ll need to have had a fair amount of experience (ideally 5+ years) in a senior executive assistant role within a corporate, commercial environment like ours, and to have always operated with integrity and high standards. Known by your peers and colleagues for your work ethic and top-notch service, you have awesome communication skills and a keen eye for detail. You get things right first time, are quick to make amends on the odd occasion you don’t, and above all you’re a team player, someone who takes great pride in their mahi supporting people and strategy and helps make work a fun place to be. This is a fixed-term contract role (covering parental leave) that’s due to end on 20 August 2027. We're flexible re start date; ideally this will be in early December to enable a smooth handover with the EA you'll be filling in for (who'll be off from 11 December).  We support flexible working where it works for the individual, the team and the business. Our main hubs are in Wellington, Auckland and Tauranga, and this role is best suited to someone who can work flexibly from Auckland or Wellington to enable strong in person connection and collaboration. (Our CFO is based in Wellington; CTO in Auckland.)  There are a bunch of perks to being a Contact kaimahi. Even in a fixed‑term role, you’ll enjoy a generous suite of benefits designed to support your wellbeing and make life a little easier. You’ll have the flexibility to work in ways that suit you and your team, plus access to our ‘Good to be Home’ annual payment to help with your home set‑up and wellbeing. If you’re a Contact customer, you’ll also receive twice‑yearly payments toward your energy and broadband bills. You’ll even get a boosted a 4% KiwiSaver employer contribution while you’re here with us! And of course, you’ll also have access to a range of additional corporate discounts that make it good to work at Contact. Applications close on Friday 6 November. But just like peak demand, great talent surges early, so if this role sparks your interest, power up your application now! Here at Contact Energy (Te Mata Hiko), we know our strength lies in developing a sense of belonging - one that helps us attract and retain people with a broad range of perspectives and experiences. We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to bring their whole selves to work. Our goal is to reflect the diversity of our customers and communities to help build a better Aotearoa New Zealand. We have a rich community of talented people that we support to thrive at Contact. At Te Mata Hiko, we want everyone to thrive. We welcome applicants far and wide - of every age, stage, background, and pride. Join us and be part of a team that values your passion and attitude just as much as your experience and skills. Please note, only candidates with the right to live and work in New Zealand will be considered for this role. Research shows that while men apply to jobs where they meet 60% of the criteria, women and those in underrepresented groups tend to only apply if they tick every box. We're not about box ticking, so if you think you have what it takes but don't meet everything stated above, please still get in touch. We'd love to kōrero. Te Mata Hiko (Contact Energy) does not accept any CVs received from recruitment agencies where a formal engagement has not been confirmed and agreed to with our Talent team.
