About Offworld: Offworld Industries Ltd. (Offworld) is the independent studio behind the successful military first-person shooter game, “Squad”. Offworld was formed in 2014 by more than 15 developers who had worked together on the well-known Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2. The founding purpose of the team was to bring a standalone successor of this acclaimed mod to market and build a game development studio and a livelihood from that foundation.  Fast forward to 2026, Offworld has over 150 employees and is rapidly growing. We have been expanding the studio into serving as a publisher supporting mods and have released our newest title, "Starship Troopers: Extermination", a 16-player PvE first-person shooter based on the 1997 cult-classic film. We are built on passion, unified spirit and continuing efforts to break the mold. We strive to become a leader in creating large-scale multiplayer games as well as supplying others with the ability to do the same. We are seeking a UI Programmer to build and polish our game's interface. Partnering directly with a UX Designer, you will own the technical implementation of the UI in Unreal Engine, ensuring it is highly performant, functionally robust, and scales perfectly across PC and consoles. Responsibilities: - Implementation: Work closely with the UX Designer to translate wireframes and prototypes into shippable in-game UI. - UX Conventions: Ensure clear UI affordances and apply established UX conventions so the interface feels intuitive to players. - Engine Mastery: Engineer scalable, data-driven UI systems using Unreal Engine (C++ and UMG). - Console Compliance: Ensure all UI elements and input flows strictly adhere to console Technical Requirement Checklists (TRCs/TCRs). - Performance: Profile and optimize UI rendering, memory, and load times to maintain target frame rates. Requirements: - Experience: Professional experience as a UI or Gameplay Programmer focused on game interfaces. - Technical Skills: Strong C++ programming and deep, hands-on knowledge of Unreal Engine's UI toolset (UMG, Slate, CommonUI, MVVM). - Collaboration: Excellent cross-discipline communication to navigate technical constraints alongside design partners. - Visual Polish: A strong eye for visual layout, typography, and animation execution. Preferred Qualifications: - CommonUI & MVVM: Hands-on experience building and shipping with Unreal Engine's CommonUI plugin and structuring data-driven interfaces using MVVM (Model-View-ViewModel) architecture. - Console Certification: Previously shipped titles on modern consoles with experience navigating first-party TRCs. - Game Controllers: Familiarity with Controller navigable UIs and Focus. - UX Experience: Prior hands-on experience or a strong background in UX design, wireframing, or user research is highly desirable. The typical salary range for this position is $85,000 - $100,000 CAD per year and is subject to change. The final agreed upon salary is based on work location and may vary depending on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role offers: - Extended health and dental benefits - 3 weeks of paid vacation  - Wonderful colleagues! If you meet the above qualifications, and Offworld sounds like the kind of company you want to be a part of, please apply now with a copy of your resume.   Offworld Industries is an equal opportunity employer.
