Your Role at impact.com:
The Marketplace Partnership Trust & Safety Manager helps set the standards that keep the marketplace trustworthy for everyone. You’ll define what acceptable behavior looks like, decide who gets access and how they’re verified, write the policies that govern marketplace engagement, advertising, and content (including AI-assisted promotions), and make sure both sides of the marketplace have accurate information and clear communication about the standards and behaviors required to participate. This role combines policy design, operational rigor, and data stewardship, and it requires someone who can explain decisions clearly to advertisers and publishers alike.
What You’ll Do
- Define standards for marketplace behavior, including what counts as spam or unwanted messaging, acceptable outreach frequency and targeting, and prohibited or inappropriate content in partner-to-partner and partner-to-consumer communication.
- Own standards and vetting criteria for all marketplace actors, along with the processes that confirm partner identity, ownership, and legitimacy.
- Research and develop marketplace policies governing participation and behavior, and define policy for allowed advertising models and content, including AI-generated or AI-assisted promotional content published by partners.
- Drive fair contracting standards, transparency, tracking quality, and the dispute-resolution standards the platform commits to.
- Define and enforce standards for marketplace data, such as affiliate types, verticals, categories, and media properties.
- Drive listing quality so that accurate and complete information is available to both advertisers and partners.
- Partner with Data Science to monitor behavioral and transactional data and identify fraud trends, policy violations, and emerging safety risks.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of Trust & Safety metrics, dashboards, and alerting systems.
- Partner with enforcement teams to optimize workflows and automate incident categorization and prioritization.
- Own trust and safety communication with both sides of the marketplace: proactive policy updates and compliance guidance for publishers, and confidence-building updates for advertisers.
- Work with marketplace ops, legal, engineering, and customer support teams to align strategy with marketplace governance goals.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on how data integrity affects user engagement, gross transaction value (GTV), safety, and compliance outcomes.
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of experience in trust and safety, marketplace policy, marketplace operations, business analysis, platform integrity, or a closely related field, ideally in an advertising, affiliate, or partnership ecosystem
- Strong SQL skills and experience with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI
- Experience writing clear, enforceable policy and translating it into operational processes and guidance
- Solid understanding of data governance, data lifecycle, and taxonomy development, and experience defining standards for data that multiple teams depend on
- Working knowledge of partner vetting, identity verification, or fraud and abuse prevention in a two-sided marketplace
- Familiarity with advertising models, affiliate or performance marketing, tracking or attribution concepts, product listing standards, user reputation systems, and content moderation workflows
- Current knowledge of issues around AI-generated content, including disclosure, misrepresentation, and brand safety
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders and explain policy decisions to external partners and internal teams
- Comfort making judgment calls with incomplete information and documenting the reasoning behind them
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Science, Economics, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Science, Economics, or a related field (Master’s preferred) or equivalent experience
- Experience with Python, R, or other scripting languages for data analysis
- Experience with contract or terms standards for marketplaces
- Background in dispute resolution or appeals processes
- Exposure to marketplace platforms (e.g., e-commerce, gig economy, peer-to-peer)
- Understanding of GDPR, content policy, or platform liability frameworks
- Experience working with global markets and regional regulatory requirements
