About the role
AccountingSAPGermanExcelGAAPPayroll
IONITY is building the backbone of electric mobility in Europe. Founded by leading automotive manufacturers, we operate Europe's largest high-power charging network across 24 countries, enabling seamless long-distance travel for EV drivers. With thousands of charging points already in operation and significant expansion ahead, IONITY is evolving beyond charging infrastructure into a broader mobility, energy and digital platform. This is where you come in.
As Teamlead Accounting, you will help keep our financial close reliable and our reporting compliant while the finance organization grows alongside the business.
About the role
Based either in Munich, Germany or Remote/Europe. You will lead the General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Inventory and Accounts Payable team, starting with six direct reports and growing as insourcing commences. The team's scope will develop over time as the finance organization grows, so the role will help shape how accounting works at IONITY. The role reports to the Head of Accounting and Tax, and acts as the operational link between the team and the Head of Accounting and Tax.
Key challenges include keeping closings accurate and on time, coordinating the outsourced Shared Service Center and local tax consultants, and turning recurring bottlenecks into lasting process improvements. The role creates value by ensuring compliant accounting under IFRS in a European environment, and by serving as the first point of contact for internal accounting questions, including those arising from new revenue streams.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and track the month-end and year-end closing schedule so that accounts payable, accounts receivable and the General Ledger close accurately and on time.
- Review the monthly and quarterly reporting package prepared by the Shared Service Center, and monitor data flows from HR/Payroll and IT into SAP to resolve breaks before they affect the close.
- Lead the team by allocating tasks, setting team goals and balancing workload to prevent bottlenecks, while creating onboarding kits and documentation for new hires and giving ongoing feedback that informs formal performance reviews.
- Manage the day-to-day coordination of the outsourced Shared Service Center, review tax reporting such as Intrastat and SAF-T for IONITY and its branches, and address recurring delays or quality issues with the service provider.
- Prepare consolidated preliminary financial statements and act as the primary operational contact for auditors, compiling working papers, schedules and requested data.
- Review, update and draft SOPs and accounting manuals as workflows change, and monitor compliance with corporate policies, tax and accounting regulations and internal controls, including segregation of duties.
- Ensure timely implementation of new and amended accounting standards, particularly IFRS.
- Drive the rollout of e-invoicing requirements across European countries together with the tax team.
- Support cross departmental projects, such as SAP automation and CSRD reporting.
- Degree in business administration, accounting, finance or a related field, or an equivalent qualification such as certified accountant (Bilanzbuchhalter), or comparable professional experience.
- Solid professional accounting experience, ideally gained in an audit firm or an international, European environment.
- Proven experience leading an accounting team.
- Hands-on experience coordinating external service providers or shared service centers.
- Deep understanding of IFRS and of accounting processes across all areas.
- Strong English reading and speaking skills.
- Strong MS Office & Excel skills. Nice to have
- SAP knowledge, ideally S/4HANA (public cloud).
- Knowledge of German GAAP (HGB).
- Experience with multi-entity structures or branch reporting.
- Knowledge of LucaNet.
- German reading and speaking skills
