About the role

MentoringJapanese
Overview Asia Physio is an Australian-owned physiotherapy company operating year-round and seasonal winter-based clinics across Japan. With over 20 years of experience supporting skiers, snowboarders, travellers and expat communities across Japan, we are an established and trusted name in allied health across the country. We are looking for two locum physiotherapists to join our Yomitan clinic in Okinawa from December 2026 to March 2027, with the potential to extend longer if it's the right fit for both sides. Our clinic has an English-speaking team who treat a diverse patient base including the expat community, US military personnel, their families and more. You'll be joining a close-knit team, working and living on a tropical island, for a role that's genuinely worth the move. Ready for a change of scenery? Okinawa could be your next stop. Already based in Okinawa or elsewhere in Japan? Even better, you'll be able to hit the ground running! What We Offer - Room to Grow: There is potential to extend your contract beyond March if you're loving island life;  - Accommodation: Fully arranged housing options so you have a comfortable home waiting for you upon arrival; - Comprehensive Onboarding: Dedicated setup and orientation to get you confident in the clinic and comfortable with local life; - Ongoing Mentorship: Regular 1-on-1 mentoring tailored to every career stage; - Clinical In-Services: Access to specialised internal training, including Women's Health, sports injury management, and regular clinical in-service sessions; - Team Meetings and Case Reviews: Collaborative team catch-ups to share knowledge, discuss complex cases, and grow together; - Live and Work in Okinawa: Experience the island of Okinawa, from the beautiful scenery and beaches to the local culture and incredible food, along with the international vibe of the US military and expat community; - Work Hard, Play Hard: We love what we do inside the clinic, but we make sure to have just as much fun outside of it, from beach days to team dinners and social events; - Community-First Team: Join a close-knit group of like-minded physios who support each other professionally and personally. Who We Are Looking For - Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy, with current valid registration in your country of qualification (AHPRA, HCPC or PBNZ highly regarded); - Strong communication skills and a genuine team-first attitude; - Excited about the opportunity to live, work and immerse yourself in Japanese culture; - Warm, approachable and able to make patients feel at ease; - Currently hold, or are eligible to apply for, working rights in Japan (such as a Working Holiday Visa). Duties and Responsibilities of the Role - Confidently and accurately assess, treat, and manage a diverse caseload of musculoskeletal injuries and presentations; - Use clinical reasoning to guide diagnosis and treatment planning to deliver evidence-based treatment;  - Prescribe and deliver exercise therapy, with progressive rehabilitation programs and home exercise plans tailored to each patient; - Educate patients on injury management, self-management and safe return to activity; - Set goals and track progress and outcomes, adjusting treatment plans as patients improve; - Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including notes, treatment plans and progress updates; - Manage follow-up appointments and continuity of care; - Work collaboratively with the broader clinic team to ensure smooth daily operations; - Participate in team meetings, case reviews and clinical in-services; - For physiotherapists who are interested, we also have the opportunity to develop skills in men's and women's pelvic health with dedicated mentorship through our up-skilling program.  Apply Now Complete your application today, including your resume and a cover letter, and then we will be in touch as soon as possible!
