Our first 135-acre residential community in the Texas Hill Country is designed with: 🌱 Non-toxic materials 💧 Clean water and filtration systems ⚡ EMF-conscious design 🌿 135 acres of preserved land and eco - sensitive planning 🏗️ Masonry construction We are a global team (spread across 8 countries) of designers, architects, engineers, and dreamers building spaces that restore and inspire. For us, it’s not just where people live - it’s how they live. Our vision is to bring Sanctuary to major cities around the world: healthy, sovereign communities that sit on the edges of every modern metropolis. THE ROLE Sanctuary is a US-based construction and development company operating across 7 to 8 US entities with different payment structures, plus an India entity based in Delhi. We are looking for a precise, ownership-driven Accountant to own the books for both our US and India entities. Your first major task will be reconciling Sanctuary’s financial records in QuickBooks across the past 3 years. That means reviewing historical records, identifying discrepancies, and getting everything fully reconciled and up to date. From there, you will assist our finance team and own day-to-day accounting, payables, cash flow, and compliance across both countries. This role is for someone who can walk into a fast-moving environment, figure out what needs to be done, and do it. If you need step-by-step direction or a ready-made SOP on day one, this role is not for you. This is not a clock-in, clock-out role. It is not basic bookkeeping. It is not consolidating numbers someone else has already organized. WHAT YOU’LL OWN - Full ownership of the books across all US entities in QuickBooks Online and the India entity in Tally: entries, categorization, and accuracy - Reconciling the past 3 years of records: backtracking all invoices paid to date, identifying outstanding amounts, and flagging what is still owed, to whom, and by when - Tracking and managing all incoming and outgoing invoices across entities, including construction-side payments previously managed by the team - Accounts payable end to end: knowing exactly which payments are due, to whom, and when - Intercompany transactions and reconciliation between the US and India entities - Consolidation of books of accounts between holding companies and subsidiaries - Supporting the team in maintaining a forward-looking cash flow tracker so the team always knows what payments are coming and can communicate proactively with consultants and vendors if timelines shift - Reconciling bank transactions, payment confirmations, and internal records regularly and accurately, with no missed entries and no approximations - India payroll bookkeeping and coordination on statutory compliance (PF, ESI, TDS, PT, MCA filings) end to end, including coordination with any vendors on ground. - Supporting documentation for construction draw applications and other external financial processes - Flagging gaps, inconsistencies, and risks before they become problems WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR - 4 to 8 years of full-cycle accounting experience across both India and US books. That means not just bookkeeping and not just compliance, but both. - Deep proficiency in QuickBooks Online (non-negotiable) - Strong working knowledge of Tally - Hands-on experience handling India statutory payroll compliance (PF, ESI, TDS, PT) yourself, not just overseeing a CA or vendor who does it - Experience in managing accounts and consolidation for multiple entities simultaneously - Obsessive attention to detail: you don’t miss large entries, and you don’t miss small ones either - Strong written and verbal English. You will coordinate regularly with US-based founders and consultants. - Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, and high comfort using AI tools to automate and streamline workflows - Experience with US real estate or construction accounting, including draw applications WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE At 30 days: - You have gone through QuickBooks across all active US entities and the India entity’s books, and you know exactly what is in there and what is not - You have a clear, accurate picture of every outstanding invoice: who is owed, how much, and since when - You know the India entity’s compliance calendar and its current status - You have flagged anything broken, missing, or at risk - You have started building a cash flow tracker the team can actually use to plan and communicate future payments - The team now relies on your support in obtaining and updating the numbers in the cash flow tracker. At 90 days: - The 3-year reconciliation is complete, or on a clear path to completion with known gaps documented - Books across both countries are current, and month-end is running on your own rhythm - The team no longer has to chase you. You are the one coming to them. WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR - You find a messy set of books and feel the urge to fix it, not avoid it. - You are highly proactive, communicate smartly and very proactively, own your mistakes, and don’t let things fall through the cracks. - You catch things others miss. - You look at a situation and figure out what to do next - You don't just flag a problem and pass it on. You think through possible solutions, come with a proposed approach, and check if you're heading in the right direction rather than relying on the team to figure it out for you. - You understand that in a company like this, being late is sometimes unavoidable, but being silent about it is not acceptable.
