About the role

Business DevelopmentCRM
We’ve partnered with a long-established, not-for-profit professional education body. Their courses teach experienced professionals how to make sound, ethical decisions at work, from short courses through to postgraduate study. They now have a new brand, a new strategy to 2030 and a newly formed sales team, and they’re opening their learning up to a far wider audience than they have ever reached. The role Your first call of the day is with someone who has already asked to hear from you. Most people on your list have downloaded course information, filled in a form or met the team at an event. You’ll qualify those enquiries and book the strongest into the sales team’s diaries. You’ll also learn the product well enough that within a few months you’re following up your own leads and closing sales. The role is designed as a pathway to Business Development Manager, and how fast you move along it is largely up to you. What you’ll do - Call, email and message every new enquiry, whether it came through the website, a LinkedIn form or an event - Qualify leads against an agreed standard and book meetings into the sales team’s diaries, including managing the business development manager’s calendar - Prepare a short brief before each meeting covering the person’s background, sector, likely need and what you have already learned - Build and work your own pipeline as your product knowledge grows, following up dormant leads and closing sales yourself - Own the sales inbox, pointing simple requests to self-service and routing complex and corporate enquiries to the right person - Keep CRM records accurate and support proposals, contract admin and handovers - Report what you hear on calls, and help decide what gets templated, what gets automated and how leads are handled while the process is rebuilt What you’ll bring - A year or more in a sales role, inbound or outbound - A clear, polished phone manner that holds up with executives and senior professionals - Writing good enough for personalised follow-up emails that land - The discipline to work a busy lead list consistently, giving each person your full attention - CRM literacy, and the patience to work with systems that are still being improved You do not need to know the subject. Product knowledge comes through the calls, with coaching and time shadowing experienced salespeople. They are hiring for communication, curiosity and a genuine wish to build a career in sales. This role is not for you if: - You’d rather send an email than pick up the phone - You see sales as a way to get into the organisation, not a career you want to build - You need clean systems and settled processes before you can do your best work - You’d feel uncomfortable talking to someone twenty years more senior than you Why you’ll love working here - Warm leads, not cold lists. Most people you call came to the organisation first - A clear pathway to Business Development Manager, with regular coaching along the way - Conversations with executives and senior professionals every day, about their own development - Something worthwhile to sell. A new AI-focused certificate is reaching industries the organisation has never reached before, and every course sold helps fund research and policy work - Free online short courses, an employee assistance programme, not-for-profit salary packaging, and income protection and life insurance after six months Salary $70,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation, depending on experience.
