About the role

Go-to-MarketRoboticsCommunication
Introduction Are you a recent or soon-to-be graduate in chemistry, physics, engineering or a related field, excited to put your scientific knowledge and curiosity to work on real-world business issues? Are you interested in understanding why some scientific breakthroughs change the world, while other promising technologies struggle to make it into everyday life? Are you fascinated by how things are made, how people use them and how we can shape a more sustainable future? Do you enjoy exploring complex questions, making connections between ideas and working with others to find thoughtful, practical solutions? Would you like to help businesses understand not just what technology can do, but how it can make a meaningful difference? If so, this could be a great role for you! Who we are A key part of Cambridge Consultants, our Advisory team works with clients across Consumer, Energy & Industrial, Telecommunications, Biotech, Healthcare and Defence & Security. Our clients range from early start-ups to global organisations, all looking for ways to use emerging technologies to address challenges, create new possibilities and make a positive impact in their markets. Our role is to help them navigate uncertainty, explore opportunities and turn promising ideas into practical outcomes. We provide research and insights to support important business choices relating to deep tech. This includes go-to-market strategies, investment support, competitor analysis, market insights, technology road-mapping and strategic foresight. The technologies we explore span exciting developments in biotech, quantum sensing and computing, robotics and physical AI, among many others. Your role This role sits within the Research & Insights section of our Advisory group. We explore how emerging technologies and future trends might shape the choices businesses make today, helping our clients feel better equipped to navigate change and plan for the future. You might investigate what people will value in the next generation of products, explore how cleantech can be adopted at scale, or uncover where novel sensors could create new possibilities for businesses and their customers. It's an opportunity to combine scientific thinking, creative exploration and commercial understanding to help answer questions that don't always have straightforward answers. What you will be doing With guidance and support from our wider Advisory team, you will: - Explore a variety of meaningful projects spanning climate tech investment, new energy generation, smart mobility strategy and emerging deep tech fields such as quantum. - Bring fresh perspectives to complex challenges, drawing on different research approaches and ideas to help clients identify opportunities across products, services and operations, including AI-enabled approaches. - Work collaboratively with specialists in engineering, science, product design and realisation, and business to develop strategies that create commercial and societal benefits. - Make sense of complex information, analysing markets, technologies and business models to help clients understand their options, consider potential challenges and drive informed actions. - Share ideas and contribute to thought leadership on how deep tech could help address global challenges, from communication on the moon to the future of repairable consumer devices. What you can bring We are looking for applicants with the following traits and skills: - A relevant academic background: A Master's or PhD in physical sciences, maths, data science, engineering or another related discipline. - Business and commercial thinking: Experience or an interest in entrepreneurship, business or economics, whether through student business plan competitions, internships, start-ups or relevant modules and further study. - Thoughtful analytical and creative thinking: The ability to explore complex technical ideas, recognise connections and turn findings into clear, practical recommendations. - Curiosity and adaptability: Enthusiasm for learning about new technologies, exploring different sectors and approaching unfamiliar challenges with an open mind. - Communication and collaboration: The ability to explain complex ideas clearly, listen to different perspectives and build constructive relationships with people from a range of technical and professional backgrounds. How to apply If this opportunity interests you, please send your CV and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience, interests and what excites you about the role. We welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. You don't need to meet every requirement to be a strong candidate. If the role sparks your curiosity and you'd enjoy exploring how science and technology can make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
