Join Us in Building the Future of Home Robotics At Sunday, we're developing personal robots to reclaim the hours lost to repetitive tasks. We're focused on an ambitious goal to make generalized robots broadly accessible, enabling households to take back quality time. We have spent the last 18 months building a talented team, securing capital, and validating our technology. We are now seeking passionate individuals to join us in the next phase of our growth. If you are ready to apply your skills to the forefront of robotics innovation, we’d love to hear from you. WHAT TO EXPECT You'll be the first illustrator to work with Sunday's product team. Memo, our home robot, is moving from beta to its first commercial release, and before our ML, hardware, robot software, and design teams write requirements for it, they need to agree on what Memo does in a real home, step by step. Your storyboards are how that agreement happens. You'll turn written user journeys into frame sequences that an engineer can read in a meeting and point at: here is where the robot leaves the charger, here is where the user taps consent, here is where a person steps in. This is a scoped engagement of roughly six weeks starting the week of November 9, with the option to extend into customer-facing illustration work as R1 approaches launch. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Translate 4–6 written user journeys into illustrated storyboards of 6–10 frames each, roughly 40–60 frames total, with revisions per journey - Draw Memo, people, and home interiors (bedrooms, hallways, laundry areas) from reference photos of the robot - Work in loose, clean black-and-white line art with accent color markings, optimized for explaining ideas - Deliver frames as PNG or PDF sized for slides, plus editable source files, into the product team's shared Notion page - Take feedback from product, design, and robot software reviewers and turn it around quickly, flagging where a written journey is ambiguous or physically implausible before you draw it WHAT YOU'LL BRING - A portfolio with at least one multi-frame sequence (storyboard, comic page, animatic, or explainer) where the story reads without captions - Confident figure drawing and interior perspective, and the ability to keep a product's proportions consistent across frames from photo reference - Speed: comfort producing a first pass of a full journey in a day or two and revising the same week - Clear, prompt communication in an async, Pacific-time workflow - Willingness to sign an NDA and a work-for-hire agreement; Sunday owns the output NICE TO HAVE - Storyboard or concept art experience for consumer hardware, appliances, vehicles, or robots - UX storyboarding or customer-journey illustration for a product team - Familiarity with Figma or FigJam for placing frames into flows - Strong interest in robotics or smart home products WHAT YOU'RE NOT - Someone whose strength is a single polished illustration rather than a sequence that tells a story - Someone who needs a finished spec before starting; our journeys will still be settling while you draw the first one - Someone who wants to set the product's visual identity; that work is owned by our design team, and these boards are internal ENGAGEMENT DETAILS - Contract, roughly six weeks from the week of November 9 through November 27, with possible extension - Based in Redwood City or San Francisco, CA; in person for kickoff and reviews at our Redwood City office, otherwise async with one 30-minute sync per week - Compensation: $25-$35/hour (depends on experience) At Sunday Robotics, we’re building technology shaped by real people — curious, creative, and diverse. We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and consider all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. Even if you don’t meet every single requirement, we encourage you to apply. Studies show that women and underrepresented groups often hold back unless they meet 100% of the criteria — we don’t want that to be the reason we miss out on great talent.
