About the role

Communication
Every day, tens of millions of people come to Roblox to explore, create, play, learn, and connect with friends in 3D immersive digital experiences– all created by our global community of developers and creators. At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there. A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone. We’re hiring a Senior People Business Partner to be the senior people strategist for User. You'll sit on the group leadership team as a trusted advisor to the group's senior engineering leader and their staff. You'll own the multi-year people strategy that lets User ship an ambitious roadmap while growing the leaders and builders who deliver it. You'll partner with a People Business Associate who supports frontline managers, so your time goes to org design, leadership bench, and group health, not straightforward manager and employee questions. User is the group that builds what most people think of as “Roblox”. The app they open on their phone, console, or desktop, the friends they find and keep, the ways they chat and share moments, and the communities and first party live events they experience. It's a large, engineering-heavy group of engineering, product, design, and data science teams working across the Social (Communication, Community, Connection, Sharing), Consumer Apps, and Live teams. The work is highly interdependent, what one team ships usually depends on several other teams and functions. You’ll join the People Business Partner team in People & Systems and report to the Senior Director, People Business Partner Lead. You will - Co-create User's multi-year people strategy - Work with group leadership to turn product strategy into an annual people plan and a multi-year talent roadmap covering capability gaps, succession, future skills, and where to invest - Diagnose and improve the system, not treat the symptom - Analyze User's operating model, org design, spans and layers, and talent systems to find friction and misalignment with the business strategy. Then build the case for structural change and see it through - Orchestrate change across teams - Lead large, multi-team changes, including reorgs, team integrations, and new operating rhythms, so leaders can keep shipping while the org evolves - Build the leadership bench - Partner with senior leaders on a long-term plan for leadership capability and succession across the group. Make sure development plans are real and in use, and treat RoGRO as one input, not the endpoint - Bring data to the leadership table - Combine internal people data (engagement, attrition, performance, progression) with external research to produce forward-looking insights that change decisions. Help leaders read the signal, not just the dashboard or report - Use AI to work differently - Use AI tools to speed up analysis, synthesis, and program design. Help User's leaders think through how AI changes team design, skills, and the work of managers - Shape culture with leaders - Use people data to find systemic barriers to engagement and inclusion, and design interventions that reflect Roblox's values. Hold senior leaders to their people commitments, courageously and constructively - Make User a place great builders choose - Shape hiring programs, capacity planning, and employer brand for the group so User attracts and keeps the talent it needs You have - 10+ years in HR, people strategy, or organizational effectiveness, including significant time as a senior PBP/HRBP partnering with VP-level leaders in engineering-centric, product-driven technology organizations - A track record of org design and change at scale: reorgs, operating model shifts, or integrations affecting hundreds of people, with outcomes you can measure - Built and owned multi-year talent strategies: succession and bench planning, workforce planning (build / buy / borrow), and leadership development that moved readiness metrics - Strong analytical judgment. You're comfortable working directly with people data, partnering with People Analytics, and turning complex findings into a clear narrative for senior leaders - Hands-on use of AI tools in your own work, and curiosity about how AI is changing team design and the role of managers - Executive presence and courage: you influence senior technical leaders through credibility and evidence, and you'll tell them what they need to hear - Discretion with highly confidential information, and comfort operating in ambiguity at the pace of a founder-led company Nice to have - Experience supporting consumer, social, or communications products at scale, or mobile and cross-platform app organizations - Background in I-O psychology, organization development, or an equivalent evidence-based approaches to how people work - Experience in a PBP/associate (or HRBP/HR generalist) partnership model where you have mentored and partnered closely with partner functions For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below.
