This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist with relevant paediatric experience and an interest in autism assessment and diagnosis. You will also work closely with parents, carers, schools, and professionals across health, education, social care, and the voluntary sector to provide advice, guidance, and support.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Undertake specialist diagnostic assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in children and young people aged 2–18 years.
- Attend and actively participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) triage meetings to discuss referrals and contribute to assessment planning.
- Contribute to the assessment and diagnostic process for children and young people presenting with suspected ASD.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and schools, providing appropriate advice, guidance, and support.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across health, education, social care, and the voluntary sector.
- Contribute specialist Speech and Language Therapy expertise to the multidisciplinary assessment process.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in accordance with professional standards and service requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Relevant paediatric Speech and Language Therapy experience, ideally within autism assessment or neurodevelopmental services.
- Experience or knowledge of assessing children and young people with suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder.
- The ability to contribute effectively to multidisciplinary team discussions and diagnostic decision-making.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with families and professionals across different services.
