WHO WE ARE
Imagine a world where your birthplace doesn’t limit your dreams. That’s what Passage is here to create. We aren’t just a bridge of financial support; we connect families all around the world to life-changing opportunities. We believe in a future where deserving students can pursue their dreams and ambitions – even if their parents don’t have money.
Our mission is bold but simple: by 2030, we aim to dismantle the barriers preventing brilliant minds from accessing the opportunities they deserve. Starting with financial barriers, we’re offering loans to international students and refugees, helping them pursue better education in Canada and unlock a world of possibilities – not just for themselves, but for their families and future generations, too.
WHO YOU ARE
We’re looking for an exceptional finance professional with a CA (ICAI) or CPA designation and 3–5 years of progressive post-qualification experience in accounting and finance. You’ll work directly with the finance lead at our Canadian head office and take meaningful ownership of accounting, reporting, compliance and filings.
You will own the global books, which span multiple subsidiaries and require consolidation. We need someone we can trust to run the accounting, close the month, get the numbers right, and keep the company compliant across every jurisdiction we operate in. As the business grows, you’ll be the person the finance lead relies on to make sure the financial foundation is sound.
We are a small team, so you will work without much structure and build a lot of it yourself. We’re looking for someone who is careful, dependable and takes pride in accurate, timely reporting – and who wants to grow their scope as the company scales.
Because you’ll be collaborating closely with the Canadian head office across a 9.5–10.5 hour time difference, extended or shifted hours are likely. Strong written communication and comfort working asynchronously are essential.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
You’ll take full ownership of core accounting, reporting, compliance and filings, with exposure across audit, internal controls, and cross-functional initiatives that support our product and growth.
Accounting & Financial reporting
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close
- Prepare monthly financial statements under IFRS and support external audit
- Maintain and document accounting policies, memos, and reconciliations
- Build and scale internal controls, systems, and reporting infrastructure
Compliance & Filings
- Work with the Canadian head office on statutory, tax and regulatory filings, with the expectation of leading these over time
- Maintain the compliance calendar and ensure deadlines are met across jurisdictions
Finance Operations
- Design and manage finance-related processes integrated with our product
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate manual workflows
- Run day-to-day financial operations, including payroll, vendor payments and banking across entities
Strategic Reporting & Analysis
- Partner with the finance lead on investor and board reporting
- Support strategic decision-making while preparing and maintaining critical source-of-truth datasets across accounting, operations, and lending
- Build tools and frameworks to track KPIs, unit economics, and cash flow
You’ll also be a key contributor to long-term projects like audit readiness, financial model development, and future financing events – with increasing ownership based on performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- CA (ICAI) or CPA designation with 3–5 years of post-qualification experience, ideally starting in Big 4 audit
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting under IFRS or equivalent
- Comfort working independently in Excel and building reporting from scratch
- Strong written English and the ability to work effectively across time zones
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience in financial services, lending, NBFC or fintech, or structured credit
- Experience with expected credit loss (IFRS 9 or equivalent) modelling and reporting
- Exposure to Indian/Canadian tax and regulatory filings (e.g. HST, SR&ED, CRA correspondence)
- Experience reporting to a foreign parent or head office
- Exposure to FP&A, financial modelling, or investor reporting
- Experience building and/or testing internal controls
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Looker Studio)
READY TO JOIN US?
We’re on a mission to make the world a fairer place, one student at a time. If you’re excited to work hard, innovate fearlessly, and collaborate with a high-energy team striving for global impact, we’d love to meet you.
Note: This role is based in Gurgaon, India, and requires a five-day-a-week in-office commitment. You will work directly with the finance lead at our Canadian head office, and extended or shifted hours are likely given the time difference. Applicants must be willing to relocate to the Delhi NCR area if they’re not already there.
Let’s help shape a future where every dream can thrive – no matter where it begins.
