About the role
Technical Writing
The Test Manager is accountable for defining, coordinating and governing testing across Digital Services projects and integrated clinical and operational systems. The role designs, develops and maintains the test-management platform and related standards; aligns test activity across solutions such as PACS, RIS, mobile applications and connected services; coordinates test preparation and execution; and manages evidence, defects, readiness reporting and formal sign-off. The Test Manager works with Project Managers, Business Owners, product teams, vendors, country teams and clinic stakeholders to provide a clear, risk-based view of solution quality and deployment readiness.
- Define and maintain the Digital Services test strategy, test policy, governance model, lifecycle, quality gates, templates and minimum evidence requirements.
- Design, develop, administer and continuously improve the test-management platform, including projects, test repositories, plans, suites, cases, executions, traceability, dashboards, defect links, permissions and reporting structures.
- Create and maintain reusable test assets, naming conventions, workflows, status definitions, approval controls and standard operating guidance.
- Ensure the test-management platform supports controlled collaboration across internal teams, countries, clinics, vendors and relevant third parties.
- Develop project-level master test plans covering scope, objectives, test levels, environments, data, resources, responsibilities, entry and exit criteria, dependencies, risks, schedule and sign-off approach.
- Coordinate end-to-end testing across shared and integrated systems, including PACS, RIS, mobile applications, portals, interfaces, identity and access components, reporting services and other connected platforms relevant to the project.
- Maintain clear requirements-to-test traceability across business requirements, user stories, workflows, interfaces, risks, test cases, defects and approvals.
- Coordinate functional, integration, interface, workflow, regression, user acceptance, configuration, migration, performance, security and operational-readiness testing as applicable to each project.
- Work with solution architects, technical teams and vendors to identify integration points, data flows, dependencies and failure scenarios requiring test coverage.
- Coordinate preparation and availability of test environments, system builds, interfaces, devices, accounts, roles, permissions, test data and supporting documentation.
- Ensure test data is appropriate, controlled and handled in line with information-governance, data-protection and clinical-safety requirements.
- Plan test cycles, allocate responsibilities, confirm tester readiness, facilitate execution, monitor progress and remove or escalate blockers.
- Provide testers and Business Owners with clear test scripts, guidance, briefing sessions and execution support.
- Lead defect triage and ensure defects are accurately recorded, prioritised, assigned, investigated, retested and closed with appropriate evidence.
- Maintain a consolidated view of open defects, residual risks, blocked tests, incomplete coverage and dependencies across all systems within scope.
- Produce transparent test dashboards and status reporting for project governance, highlighting quality, coverage, execution progress, defect severity, readiness and decisions required.
- Define and manage formal test-completion and sign-off processes, ensuring that accountable Business Owners, technical owners and other required approvers review the evidence and residual risks.
- Maintain approved sign-off records, conditions, exceptions, waivers and outstanding actions in the agreed repository and test-management platform.
- Provide an evidence-based recommendation on test readiness for go-live while ensuring that the final deployment decision remains with the authorised project governance and accountable owners.
- Support go-live and hypercare by confirming regression scope, validating critical fixes, monitoring production issues and ensuring lessons are incorporated into future testing.
- Coach project teams and testers in risk-based testing, test case design, evidence quality, defect management and use of the test-management platform.
- Capture lessons learned, quality trends and recurring failure themes to improve Digital Services delivery standards and product quality.
