About the role
Customer Support
At Mainstream, we move, manage, and store freight across New Zealand. Behind every successful departure is a team making sure freight is checked, scanned, labelled and ready to go. That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a detail-focused Freight Control Coordinator to join our Auckland team. Reporting to the Metro Manager, you’ll help ensure outbound freight is accurate, compliant and ready for dispatch.
Why this role matters
You’re not just checking freight — you’re helping keep Mainstream moving. Your attention to detail ensures freight is correctly identified, recorded and prepared for its journey, helping prevent errors and keep departures on track.
What you’ll do
- Check outbound freight against manifests and picklists, working with loading teams to ensure manifest accuracy and resolving discrepancies before dispatch.
- Scan and label freight to ensure it’s correctly identified for its destination, including relabelling freight where required.
- Complete freight-on-floor (FOF) and freight-left-behind (FLB) scanning and reporting.
- Check Dangerous Goods documentation, ensuring consignments are correctly recorded on manifests.
- Prepare and submit ferry and KiwiRail paperwork accurately and on time.
- Scan, monitor and report freight held in the RNR (Resolve and Revolve) Bay, including damaged freight and outstanding issues.
- Take ownership of picklist discrepancies, correcting errors and keeping Customer Service and Metro teams informed.
- Track freight held for resolution and follow up outstanding issues.
- Work with loading, Customer Service and Operations teams to keep freight moving safely and efficiently.
What you bring
- Experience in freight checking, warehouse operations, transport administration or a similar role.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Good computer skills and confidence using scanning systems.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Transport or logistics experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of freight scanning, manifesting or Dangerous Goods documentation is an advantage.
- A reliable, proactive and team-focused attitude.
What we offer
- A key role at the heart of Mainstream’s Auckland freight operation.
- A supportive team environment where everyone plays their part.
- Opportunities to develop your skills within a growing, proudly Kiwi-owned and operated business.
If you take pride in getting the details right and want to help keep freight moving across the network, we want to hear from you!
Eligibility: Applicants must be New Zealand citizens, residents, or hold a valid NZ work visa.
