About the role
KanbanCustomer SupportSupply ChainManufacturing
The role
This is the senior production role in the group, working alongside our Group Operations Director and deputising across the full manufacturing estate.
You will lead production directly across our two Hampshire sites: Alton, where we produce wall art and print products, and Basingstoke, where we manufacture frame rims for the picture framing trade. You will also take responsibility for production performance at our Venlo facility in the Netherlands (framed pictures, canvas, acrylic and magnets) and our Charlotte facility in North Carolina, working through local site leadership and helping to strengthen it.
The work combines high order complexity with relatively simple manufacturing processes. Getting planning, people, process and performance right, consistently, across four sites in three countries is the job. As the business grows, there is also scope to play a leading role in extending our manufacturing footprint, including potential new facilities in North America and beyond.
What you will do
- Run day-to-day production wherever you are most needed, delivering on quality, cost and service levels
- Own production performance across all four sites, setting standards, holding site leads to account and stepping in directly when needed
- Build and develop site leadership and production teams, including recruitment, training, performance management and workforce planning
- Set and track production KPIs, including labour efficiency and OEE, and use the data to drive decisions
- Lead Lean and continuous improvement work (Kanban, SMED, 5 Whys, JIT) to raise productivity, cut waste and grow capacity as volumes increase
- Standardise processes and best practice across sites wherever it makes sense
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Customer Service, Engineering and our platform teams to keep orders moving end to end
- Maintain high standards of health and safety, quality and compliance at every site
- Deputise for the Group Operations Director and take on wider operational responsibility over time
What you will bring
- Significant experience as a Production, Manufacturing, Operations or Site Manager, with a record of measurable operational improvement
- Experience managing multi-site operations, ideally across more than one country
- Hands-on Lean or continuous improvement experience, not just familiarity with the terms
- Confidence leading managers as well as frontline teams, and holding people to account
- A data-driven, commercially aware approach to labour cost, output and quality
- Comfort with high-mix, short-run production and complex order flows
- Willingness to travel regularly to the Netherlands and the USA
Experience in print, print on demand, picture framing, wall art or decor manufacturing is a strong advantage but not essential.
Why join
You will have real authority over how a growing international manufacturing operation develops, and a clear route to broader operational leadership. We offer 25 days' holiday, flexible working where the role allows, and an informal, results-focused culture.
