Position Description:
The Field Coordinator is the link between the jobsite, the shop, and the office. This position field measures and scans jobsites before fabrication, lays out and prepares sites for our crews, builds installation plans, coordinates with GCs and other trades, and keeps the field paperwork and purchasing moving. The Field Coordinator also develops and trains our installation crews so every job is set up to go in right the first time.
This position is based in DFW and covers Texas projects full time, with nationwide travel 25 to 50% of the time depending on project needs and team availability. The ideal candidate is an experienced stair and rail installer ready to step off the tools and into a coordination role, who can still pick them up when the job needs it.
Essential Functions and Qualifications:
- Field measure and Faro scan jobsites; survey jobsites and deliver accurate field dimensions to drafting and project management.
- Walk jobsites ahead of install to confirm field conditions, finished floor elevations, embeds, blocking, access, and site readiness; identify issues early and report them to the project manager.
- Lay out stair, rail, and miscellaneous metal locations on site from control lines and benchmarks.
- Generate installation plans and narratives covering sequencing, crew size, equipment, rigging, lift beam sizing, and site logistics.
- Determine jobsite needs (equipment, lifts, rigging, tools, consumables, and material) and order equipment ahead of crew mobilization.
- Coordinate with GC superintendents, other trades, and owner representatives on schedule, access, sequencing, and site issues.
- Troubleshoot field problems with crews and the project team, and find workable solutions that protect schedule, quality, and cost.
- Develop and train installation crews on Big D methods, quality standards, and safety; mentor lead installers.
- Generate purchase orders and work orders; update schedules of values (SOVs) for progress billing.
- Keep daily reports, jobsite photos, and field documentation up to date in Procore and GC project platforms.
- Track installation progress against schedule and flag delays, changes, and extra work to the project manager.
- Assist with field installation when needed.
- Follow and enforce Big D, GC, and OSHA safety rules on every jobsite; support pre-task planning and site safety orientations.
